Kansas Geological Foundation Grant is sponsored by Kansas Geological Foundation. The Kansas Geological Foundation Grant is a competitive grant from the Kansas Geological Foundation that funds research and programs advancing the science of geology and related fields in Kansas and beyond.

Grant Request - Policies and Procedures The primary purpose of the Kansas Geological Foundation is to provide benefit to the science of geology and related endeavors. Grants are intended to aid individuals or agencies involved in research or programs that fall into the basic categories that best fulfill the primary purposes for which the Foundation was organized, namely, "the promotion of the science of geology and related fields."

Since the amount of money requested for grants may exceed the availability of funds, applications are reviewed and must be evaluated on a competitive basis. The restrictions outlined below serve as guidelines for grant eligibility and serve as general policy regarding the types of activities supported by the Foundation.

If a given activity or program cannot function within these policies, the applicant may submit an explanation of the special case involved. Members and non-members of the Foundation are eligible. Grants may be awarded to individuals, agencies, or groups.

Grant requests must be supported by adequate documentation and will not carry any allowances to institutions for overhead costs.

No grants will be made for the financial benefit of any private individual or organization, for any research the result of which will be financial gain for any individual or corporation, or for any research that will not be made available to or in the best interest of the geologic community or the public at large.

Applications are evaluated on the basis of the merits of the proposal, the capability of the individual or agency, and reasonableness of the budget. Applications must be submitted on the appropriate Foundation form. There is no provision for funding of any long-term project or program.

Grants are awarded one year at a time. Upon the expiration of a particular grant, a recipient must submit an additional application in order to be considered for further funding. Basic research in geology as related to academic studies as part of either undergraduate or graduate programs.

Programs engaged in or related to earth science education for the purpose of increasing public awareness of the science of geology. Programs or projects involved with the gathering and/or preservation of scientific data for the use by the geologic community and the public. Research projects designed to further the understanding of processes and techniques related to the application of geologic principles to science and industry.

Activities designed to enhance the geological education or skills of scientists, educators, or professional members of the field of geology. Those projects with direct relevance to Kansas geology will be given preference. The application form is a "fillable" pdf form that can be saved once you digitally sign the form.

com. The application must be submitted on the form provided. The application should be concise and informative.

It should define the project to be funded and should detail a plan of action to be undertaken to accomplish the project. A proposed budget should be submitted along with a proposed timetable of activities. Each application will be reviewed and evaluated by a review committee of the Foundation.

Committee members have the responsibility of securing information on the merits of the project, reasonableness of the budget, and any other pertinent data. Download KGF Grant Application Form The recipient of a grant is expected to use the funds in the manner outlined in the application.

Upon the completion of the project the recipient shall submit a brief accounting of expenses and shall return to the Foundation any unused portion of the grant. The recipient shall endeavor to follow, as closely as possible, the timetable outlined in the application. If a project is delayed for an unusual length of time or is unable to be commenced, the Foundation must be notified in writing.

The Foundation will then determine if an extension of time will be granted or if the recipient should return the funds and reapply later. At an appropriate point during the progress of the project the recipient should submit a one-page progress report on the status of the project and a brief summary of expenses to date.

At the completion of the project a final report should be submitted to the Foundation outlining the results of the project along with a detailed financial summary. The Foundation encourages the publication of results of research in scientific journals and other appropriate publications and presentation at professional meetings. The Foundation should be acknowledged for its support.
