Grant Guidelines | The Karma Foundation Grants are made to local, national and international organizations. New Jersey grants are restricted to Middlesex, Union, and Mercer Counties. Organizations based in New Jersey with regional or statewide scope will also be considered.
The Foundation typically awards grants from $500-$25,000 to non-profit organizations with 501(C)3 status. The majority of grants range from $1,000-$10,000. The trustees review applications on a rolling basis.
Applications may be submitted at any time during the year. Applicants will be notified by letter of the disposition of their proposal within 90 days of receipt. Successful applicants may be listed on the Foundation’s website.
The Foundation receives a greater number of qualifying requests than it has financial resources to support. As a result, many worthy requests must be declined. The Foundation makes grants in the following categories: Special projects and programs We encourage organizations to use our grants as leverage for other grants.
The Foundation may identify and make grants to tax-exempt organizations that have not applied, or may encourage some to apply that have not. Any 501 (c) 3 organization that meets the guideline requirements and is interested in submitting a proposal should complete the LOI (Letter of Inquiry) in our Applying Section. The board will review this LOI and inform the organization whether or not we are interested in a full proposal.
This process will take between 2-4 weeks. We suggest that organizations that have not received funding from the Karma Foundation in the past email info@karmafoundation. org to ask questions and receive assistance before beginning the LOI/Application Process.
