APPLY ONLINE NOW (opens in new tab) KIDSPORT COMMUNITY LISTING (opens in new tab) Children and youth 18 and younger may be eligible for up to $400 per child, per calendar year. Families can apply more than once in a year, but the maximum funding available is $400 per child from January to December. Eligible sport activities must be affiliated with a Sport BC member organization, led by a qualified coach, and be at least 6 weeks long.

Please allow for up to 60 days for notification of the applications status Camps, equipment, travel, fundraising/volunteer fees, championships, and dance do not qualify .

Who is eligible to receive a KidSport Grant? KidSport BC uses Statistics Canada’s Low-Income Cut-Offs as a guideline to determine financial eligibility. Extenuating circumstances may be considered.

Financial Verification – please include one of the following: Notice of Assessment (NOA) from the most recent tax year showing line 15000 for all parent/guardians in the household Proof of foster parent status Proof of income or disability assistance Have an endorser complete and sign Section 4 of the paper application.

An endorser is an objective third party who is familiar with the athlete’s family and can speak to the social and economic barriers they are facing An endorser may be a professional in social work, family services, settlement worker, school administrator (principal or vice principal), counsellor or a community service organization Endorsers cannot be associated with the sports organization, and they cannot be a family member.

4. If the athlete withdraws. the parent/guardian or sport organization must notify KidSport BC or the local KidSport chapter.

Expand KidSport British Columbia gives grants to families to help remove financial barriers to sport. Since 1993, we have helped nearly 1 million kids off the sidelines and into a season of sport! What does a KidSport grant cover?

Expand KidSport grants cover the cost of sport registration fees for qualified families. Grants are intended to remove financial barriers to sport programs, and so can/cannot be applied to equipment, transportation, or tournament fees. What sports are eligible?

Expand Sport activities must be affiliated with the member sport organizations of Sport BC and demonstrate a sustained sport experience (a season of sport led by a qualified coach) for a minimum of 8 weeks and include at least one session per week. com/members/ What communities do we serve? Expand KidSport British Columbia has 40 chapters, each serving their local community. Communities that do not yet have a KidSport chapter are covered by the KidSport British Columbia Provincial Fund.

Expand You must register your kid in a sports program prior to applying for KidSport funding. Each program is different, but many do require that KidSport funding be received prior to the program’s start date. You should apply for a KidSport grant as soon as possible after your kid has been registered, as it can sometimes take up to 30 days for applications to be processed.

KidSport grants cannot be applied to programs that have already ended. How will I know if the application has been approved? Expand If you have applied online, you will be sent an automatic, system-generated email with your approval information.

If you have applied offline (in-person, through an emailed PDF form, or through a printed form), you must include your email address in order to receive confirmation of your approval. How do I demonstrate financial eligibility? Expand Your Proof of Income Statement can be accessed through CRA My Account We strongly recommend this option, as it is free, and the fastest way to obtain your statement.

You may also request your statement by mail. What if the child lives outside of the area we cover? Expand If your family lives outside of the area we cover, you can apply to the KidSport Provincial Fund.

The provincial fund works like a big chapter, and covers all communities that do not already have a KidSport chapter. Is my information kept private and confidential? Expand Yes, all your personal information will be stored securely and destroyed once appropriate.
