KP Gives — Volunteer Donation Program is sponsored by Kaiser Permanente Northwest. This program provides funding to select nonprofits based on Kaiser Permanente employee engagement with the organization through volunteering.

Community Health Needs Assessment Community engagement and volunteerism Improving community conditions The KP Gives Volunteer Donation Program provides limited funding to select nonprofits that our employees and physicians volunteer with. We encourage nonprofit organizations to submit KP Gives donation requests that meet our eligibility criteria.

Nonprofit and donation criteria Eligibility is limited to nonprofit organizations to which Kaiser Permanente of the Northwest employees and physicians donate their time. The organization’s mission and programs must support one or more of the high-priority community health needs identified in our Community Health Needs Assessment .

Nonprofits must document in their proposal how a Kaiser Permanente of the Northwest employee or physician has demonstrated ongoing, high-impact volunteer engagement with the organization — for example, by serving as a board member, leading a board subcommittee, providing regular hours of service, or having a long-term history of service. Employee volunteer hours alone are insufficient.

Nonprofits must verify that a Kaiser Permanente employee or physician has at least 45 volunteer hours accumulated in the past 12 months. Service hours from Martin Luther King Jr. Days of Service do not qualify. Nonprofits cannot combine multiple Kaiser Permanente of the Northwest employees’ volunteer hours together.

Kaiser Permanente of the Northwest employee volunteer hours can only count toward one organization. Donation requests cannot exceed $3,500.

Fit within Kaiser Permanente’s organizational mission Be from a qualified nonprofit organization or government entity Be for programs and services that are open to the broader community Be submitted by an employee of the nonprofit organization, not by a Kaiser Permanente employee or physician Be for a program within Kaiser Permanente of the Northwest’s service area (see eligible counties in the service area section) Include a W-9 form that has been signed within the past 12 months and has the “Other” box checked, indicating the organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Nonprofits must not discriminate on the basis of sex, age, economic status, educational background, race, color, ancestry, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status in their programs, services, polices, hiring practices, and administration.

We review proposals once a year. The submission deadline is August 15. Donations are announced approximately 60 days after the application deadline.

Counties within the Kaiser Permanente Northwest service area include: Oregon state Washington state Benton Clark Clackamas Cowlitz Columbia Skamania Lane Wahkiakum Linn Marion Multnomah Polk Washington Yamhill Kaiser Permanente is unable to fund Any religious or faith-based organization that solely provides services and programs to its congregation, membership, or students or provides services for the purposes of advancing religious doctrine or philosophy, regardless of its tax-exempt status (includes any activity, event, or program where the proceeds will be used to support the religious or faith-based organization's general operation) Requests for an individual General funds for governmental agencies (private and public schools are not eligible; however, requests to fund a special project may be considered) One-time occurrences for youth or adult teams, travel costs, runs, walks, fundraisers, conferences, competitions, and memberships Endowment or capital improvement campaigns Foundations that strictly make grants Debt retirement for organizations To submit a proposal, please access our application portal .
