4 Million to Battier Take Charge Foundation for Improved Access to Educational Opportunities The KPMG US Foundation has awarded a $1. 4 million grant to the Battier Take Charge Foundation . This grant aims to improve access to educational opportunities for underserved youth, empowering them to grow as leaders by providing the tools they need to thrive in their chosen fields.

Founded by former NBA player Shane Battier, the Battier Take Charge Foundation is dedicated to providing resources and opportunities for young people to take charge of their lives and reach their greatest potential. Their mission is to inspire a new generation of leaders through education and the cultivation of effective leadership skills.

“Our support for the Battier Take Charge Foundation will help expand educational opportunities for underserved youth,” said Anita Whitehead , President and Chair of the KPMG US Foundation. “By investing in their education, we are investing in the future of our communities and the limitless potential of these young individuals.

Together, we can make a lasting impact and help young people access meaningful opportunities that empower them to create a brighter future for themselves and their communities. ” The grant will support initiatives to improve access to quality education, including scholarships, mentorship programs, networking opportunities, and leadership training.

The Battier Take Charge Scholars Program selects students from Miami, Houston, and Detroit, providing them with financial support for tuition expenses and access to enrichment programs that offer ongoing support throughout their higher education journey. The foundation’s commitment extends beyond financial aid, aiming to equip students with the necessary tools and resources to excel academically and personally.

Spotlight: KPMG US Foundation sponsors semi-annual leadership retreat for Battier Scholars In April 2024, the KPMG US Foundation supported a leadership retreat for Battier Scholars, bringing together 37 undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals from diverse backgrounds.

The retreat featured a wide range of workshops covering various topics, including personal and professional development and the use of mindfulness in a holistic setting to promote overall well-being and balance. This transformative event provided the scholars with a unique opportunity to engage in leadership development activities, network with industry professionals, and gain valuable insights to shape their future careers.
