Kentucky Conference: Good Samaritan Ministries Good Samaritan Ministries The goal and mission of Good Samaritan Ministries (GSM) is to make annual financial grants that support United Methodist ministries that contribute to the on-going mission of the Kentucky Annual Conference to “discover, develop, and send passionate spiritual leaders and resources to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world."

Local churches, annual conference ministries, camps, college and campus ministries, affiliated United Methodist missions in the Kentucky Conference, and the Kentucky Conference Council on Finance & Administration are eligible to receive funds.
Applications can be made for ministries that focus on any of the following: Conference Priorities which include: Spiritual Leadership Development Disrupting and Dismantling Racism and Discrimination Priority will be given to new ministry initiatives. Each applicant can submit only one application. A single application can request funding for multiple initiatives.
The total request of a single application should not exceed the grant award limits of: $40,000 per organization or ministry area/team Also note, GSM does not fund “bricks and mortar” projects, annual operating expenses, administrative and overhead costs (i.e. salaries, benefits, rent), or office equipment.
In addition, GSM does not fund proposals for fundraising activities (e.g. charitable tournaments, meal functions, team sponsorships, or ticket purchases) or proposals to create or support youth athletic activities. GSM funds proposals on a one year basis Once received, grant applications will be reviewed by the GSM team and recommendations made to the Kentucky Conference board of trustees.
In some rare cases, the team may request additional information after the initial review. Successful recipients will be notified in writing prior to the beginning of the grant cycle . GSM will not consider incomplete or untimely grant applications.
If awarded a grant, the grantee must submit a mid-year report and a final report . For an organization to be considered for any subsequent grants, both mid-year and final reports must be submitted by their due dates. GSM will not consider applications from organizations that have failed to timely submit mid-year and final reports on prior awarded grants.
GSM will delay the release of grant funds until a final report is received for prior year grant funds. 2026 Spending and Reporting Deadlines The 2026 grant application window has closed.
However, 2026 grant recipients have the remaining reporting requirements and deadlines for their grant cycle: December 31, 2026 - 2026 Grant Year End; Deadline to Spend 2026 Grant Funds January 31, 2027 - 2026 Final Repor t Due Mid-Year and Final Reports along with required attachments are due by their posted due dates to [email protected] . The application window for 2026 grants has closed.
The application window for 2027 grants opens September 1, 2026.
