Black, Jr. Grant Fund for Chicago’s South Side The Landmarks Illinois Timuel D. Black, Jr. Grant Fund for Chicago’s South Side was created to support grantees in their effort to preserve and promote the history, culture and architecture of Chicago’s South Side. This grant program is open to both nonprofits and for-profit entities.
Grant amounts range from $500 to $10,000 each, depending on project need. Grants are awarded on a 3:1 matching basis. The Landmarks Illinois Timuel D.
Black Jr. Grant Fund for Chicago’s South Side is possible thanks to a generous gift made to Landmarks Illinois in honor of the late Richard H. Driehaus.
The fund provides financial support to the following types of projects: Significant structures or sites located on Chicago’s South Side that are under threat of demolition, imminent deterioration or are of such architectural importance that their preservation will benefit the public and community. Structures or sites on Landmarks Illinois’ most recent “Endangered List” are presumed to be Eligible Structures.
The South Side is approximately defined as the following boundaries: East of S. Ashland Avenue; North of the southern boundary of the city of Chicago. Is your project or organization eligible for a Landmarks Illinois Timuel D.
