Lead Hazard Reduction Grant Program | SHRA Lead Hazard Reduction Grant Program Are you living in a home built before 1978? Did you know that many homes built before 1978 may contain lead-based paint? Lead from paint, chips, and dust can be a serious health hazard – particularly to young children.
SHRA offered grant funds to assist with Lead Hazard Remediation up to $10,000 per unit. The grant program has concluded, ending in May 2025. For more information, contact SHRA at 916-440-1317 or email us at leadfunds@shra.
org . Lead Safe Housing Registry The Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency Lead-Safe Housing Registry is provided to inform those interested in renting a housing unit in the County about housing units that have been made safe from lead-based paint hazards. Lead-based paint is primarily found on homes and apartments built before 1978.
The older the building, the more likely it is to have lead-based paint. To find out more information please call the Information Line at (916) 440-1317. The units on the Lead Safe Registry were determined to be lead-safe following their participation in SHRA Lead Hazard Reduction Program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control.
The units shown below were deemed “Lead-Safe” based on a lead evaluation in the month shown. “Lead-safe” means that there was no deteriorated lead-based paint, no lead-contaminated dust, and no exposed lead-contaminated soil identified at the time of the lead evaluation. This does not mean the property is “lead-free” as lead-based paint or lead in the soil may remain.
On-going lead safety requires the owner to safely maintain paint coatings and soil covering and to use lead-safe work practices in maintaining or repairing the unit. Prospective renters or buyers should check with the owner to see if these practices have been followed. This is a list of housing units that were lead-safe at the date indicated.
This does not mean that the units listed are vacant or available at this time. Other units at a given property that are not listed here may or may not be lead-safe. SHRA makes no warranties as to the current condition of the property.
Normal deterioration or activities of the owner, tenant, or others may have created lead hazards since the lead evaluation date.
