Grant funding for Ukrainian farmers through LEADER program The implementation of the European program for rural development support — LEADER — has started in Ukraine. This initiative opens new opportunities for Ukrainian farmers by providing co-financing for projects, where the share of grant funds can reach 80% of the total cost.

Representatives of the Ministry of Economy emphasized that LEADER is not just financial assistance, but a comprehensive approach to the development of rural communities, where local initiatives play a central role.

Thanks to a high level of cost coverage, farmers can modernize their farms, implement innovations, and organize product processing without significant personal financial investments.

This format allows for the rational allocation of resources to projects with the greatest potential for community development. To participate in the program, farmers must go through a competitive selection process, during which the business plan, social significance of the project, and compliance with the area development strategy will be evaluated.

The co-financing level of up to 80% significantly reduces financial risks for small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises. In addition to financial support, program participants gain access to expert consultations and the opportunity to collaborate with other producers, which fosters experience exchange and the development of value-added chains within the country.

For many farming enterprises, participation in LEADER will be a boost to improve efficiency. Against the backdrop of modern challenges in the agricultural sector, such programs become the foundation for sustainable rural development and a guarantee of food security for Ukraine in the future. The Ministry of Economy is already preparing detailed instructions for submitting applications to participate in LEADER.

Farmers are advised to prepare project proposals in advance to take full advantage of the European approach to supporting farming.
