Hauola Grant Program | Lele Aloha “Ka laʻi o Hauola” (The Calm of Hauola) Our work at Lele Aloha supports the rebuilding, re-establishing and reinvigorating of the areas and communities affected by 2023 fires. The course to recovery and into rejuvenated communities is a long one, but the need for relief and aid is immediate, its short sighted, its today.
In the midst of the chaotic activity that rebirth brings, our community needs spaces of calm, of healing, or rebirth within a supported environment. In Lāhainā along the shoreline, near the ferry pier, the Hauola Stone served the community as a place for rebirth, for healing, for calm while on the shore of change. Our Hauola Grants honor this important pōhaku (stone) and the foundational knowledge it provides.
These awards will extend the life, health, and wellbeing of our communities until we once again thrive. Lele Aloha distributed Hauola Grants to families rebuilding homes in Lāhainā providing direct support for long-term recovery. Together with Maui Rapid Response, we delivered household goods and supplies to residents, continuing our hands-on commitment to those affected by the 2023 wildfires.
Grants are intended to be used for the purpose of assisting in the rebuild of areas and communities that were affected by the 2023 Maui Fires.
Priority will be given to those whom are engaged in rebuilding of Lahaina community through: Support for Community Programs Education and Certification Costs Access to Health Services Individual Grants - Qualified Applicants Family or individuals that are residents of an area affected by 2023 Maui Wildfires Must be able to adequately demonstrate financial need Priority given to Lahaina homeowners and/or generational residents.
Must be an grassroots group, small non-profit organization, or small local business (less than$1. 5M in annual operating budget). Must be able to adequately demonstrate financial need Must service Lahaina community or families impacted by the 2023 fires.
