# Letter of Inquiry Process * Grants Portal Helpful Tips ↓ * Grants Portal - Registering and Logging In ↓ * Submitting a Letter of Inquiry ↓ Register and submit a letter of inquiry (LOI) to initiate the grant application process in the Commonwealth Fund Grants Portal. Step-by-step instructions are available on the sidebar.
The LOI should present information clearly and concisely, with a description that includes the following information: * Statement of problem and purpose of grant * Description of project’s targeted audience(s) * Project design, including schedule and work plan * Description of project’s expected outcomes * Estimated total project cost and total amount requested from the Commonwealth Fund * Organization staffing and financial resources.
At the LOI stage, the Commonwealth Fund does not require a full budget or other supporting documents, aside from the detailed project description. The length of the project description should be no more than three (3) pages of a Word document with 12-point font (approximately 2,500 words). Questions?
