Lewiston-Auburn Program is sponsored by Elmina B. Sewall Foundation. Provides funding for organizations addressing community-identified needs in Lewiston-Auburn, including housing, public health, and economic development.

Lewiston-Auburn — Elmina B. Sewall Foundation The Sewall Foundation remains committed to supporting our community partners in Lewiston–Auburn through the L/A program. We deeply value the meaningful work taking place across the ecosystem and the strong collaboration that has been built among priority groups, steering committees, and coordinating partners.

L/A’s collective efforts continue to shape a stronger, more connected community. The survey we sent out to the whole eco-system in November 2025 provided important insight into the priorities and needs identified by partners throughout L/A. These findings have guided the development of a grantmaking process that both minimizes administrative burden and centers sustainable, long-term funding to better support the work you are leading.

In addition to grants, support Beyond the Grant – including technical assistance, impact investment, facilitated convening, and shared learning opportunities – will help advance collective work by the Lewiston-Auburn community, in partnership with other L-A funders. 2026 available funding: $1,780,000. org The Lewiston-Auburn program will support organizations and efforts that address at least one of the community-identified needs: Community and public health Food and hunger in Lewiston-Auburn Workforce and economic development Civic infrastructure and engagement Preference will be given to work that: Delivers direct community services Provides organizational capacity building such as staffing, planning, and building sustainable organizations Supports community organizing, public policy and advocacy Provides workshops and educational opportunities Priority will be given to organizations that have been active in the L/A ecosystem over the past few years.

2026 Available Funding: $1,780,000 Sewall prioritizes providing general operating support for multiple years. In 2026, the Lewiston-Auburn program will award multi-year grants (up to 4 years).

Individual organizations/efforts: $25,000 to $50,000 (per year) Funds will primarily be for general operating support to allow maximum flexibility in use of funds Increased funding amounts may be available to organizations that meet multiple program priorities.

Generational Noor received its first Sewall grant in 2023, along with additional funding after the October 2023 mass shooting in Lewiston and in April 2024 to support the Lewiston Community Round Table and Community Connects at Lewiston Public Schools.
