This call for projects aims to build the long-term capacity of small civil society organizations in the townships of Gauteng (South Africa) and in Lesotho. ## LIFSA+ Call for proposals 2026 **You have until September, 13, 2026 to submit your applications on this platform. ** This call for proposals is open to civil society organizations in Gauteng (South Africa) and Lesotho.
The selected organizations will also receive technical, institutional, and networking support. The initiatives selected will receive a maximum subsidy of **R160. 000/LSL 160. 000.
** **To be eligible under this call for proposals, applicant organisations must meet the following criteria:** •Have their headquarters in one of the two target countries: South Africa(in Gauteng province)or Lesotho •Be locally registered legal entities and comply with the legal requirements and regulations applicable in their country of establishment •Conduct their activities in accordance with relevant national policies and sectoral frameworks in their areas of intervention •Be local non-governmental and non-profit organisations, including associations, cooperatives, community-based organisations, community centres and similar local structures •Be local private sector actors (legal entities only) engaged in projects of collective interest with a strong socio-economic dimension and benefiting vulnerable populations •Be local universities, research institutes or training centres implementing concrete and measurable community-based projects.
**LIFSA+ supports projects in one or more of the following priority sectors:** •Empowerment of women and girls •Local agriculture and livestock •Education and vocational training •Entrepreneurship and employability •Inclusion of vulnerable and marginalized groups •Climate adaptation and environmental protection •Peacebuilding, social cohesion and violence prevention. Is it possible to set the duration of the project at 6 months ?
Yes, it is possible. The project duration specified in the regulations is a maximum of 12 months. Is it possible to apply for funding for a project that has already started ?
Yes, but please note that retroactive funding for expenses incurred prior to a LIFSA+ funding agreement is not possible. Is it possible to apply if my association is not yet legally registered ? No. Unfortunately, all applicant associations must be duly registered in South Africa or Lesotho.
However, you can still participate in the project if you apply in partnership with a registered association. What are the geographic requirements for applying? Organizations operating in Gauteng Province (Johannesburg and the surrounding area) and in Lesotho are eligible.
Can private entities apply to the fund ? Yes, private entities can apply to the fund only if they have a non-profit company status. Who should I contact if I have a problem with my form?
