Local governments or regional partners operating in Pinellas County are invited to submit applications to this competitive grant program by providing the information requested on the referenced applications.
Over the years, the Forward Pinellas Board has awarded nearly $10 million toward projects with the intent of assisting communities in meeting their goals for mobility and safe access for all users, regardless of mode of transportation, age or physical ability.
These programs provide direct funding for local transportation projects that demonstrate a strong link to redevelopment, economic opportunity and better accessibility for all roadway users. This program provides direct funding for local transportation projects that demonstrate a strong link to redevelopment, economic opportunity, and better accessibility for all roadway users. Up to $150,000 is available for transportation planning and technical assistance projects and up to $3,000,000 is available for transportation construction and capital projects. An informational Call for Projects Webinar was held on July 2, 2026 – View Recording . Forward Pinellas staff will be available to provide technical assistance throughout the application period. Up to $150,000 will be available to fund applications received in CY 2026.
The minimum project award will be $35,000 and the maximum project award will be $150,000. An eligible applicant includes any local government agency or transit provider, within the geographic area of Pinellas County, FL. Each applicant is limited to submitting a maximum of two project applications for funding consideration.
Eligible projects may include but will not be limited to: transportation concept plan development; specialty transportation research; safety analyses; community charettes and facilitation; community walking audits or visioning workshops; evaluation of conditions for pilot technology applications; and other eligible transportation planning related activities.
All applicants are required to meet with Forward Pinellas staff to discuss their applications before September 11, 2026. We will not accept emailed applications. Each agency is limited to no more than two planning applications in this current round of funding. Up to $3,000,000 will be available to fund applications received in CY 2026.
Project(s) selected for funding will be added to the priority list in Spring 2027 and considered for funding in the development of the FY 2029 – 2033 FDOT Work Program. The minimum project award will be $300,000 and the maximum project award will be $3,000,000. More than one application MAY be selected for funding, provided that the $3,000,000 total is not surpassed.
An eligible applicant includes any local government agency or transit provider, within the geographic area of Pinellas County, FL. Each applicant is limited to submitting a maximum of two project applications for funding consideration.
Eligible projects may include but will not be limited to: transportation construction projects; the procurement of counting equipment for all modes of transportation; technological equipment to improve mobility; bicycle racks (to be placed on public ROW); and other eligible capital and construction projects. All applicants are required to meet with Forward Pinellas staff to discuss their applications before September 11, 2026.
