The Local Arts Program Grant (LAP) enables the New Jersey State Council on the Arts (NJSCA) to support local arts development within each of New Jersey’s 21 counties through a competitive grant application process by awarding funds to officially designated county arts agencies (CAAs).
The Hunterdon County Cultural & Heritage Commission is the agency officially designated in Hunterdon County to apply for, receive and administer this annual LAP Grant/Re-grant program.
The annual total grant award supports local arts development through planned programming and other services provided by the Cultural & Heritage office and re-grants through a formal application/independent peer review panel process to support eligible local arts organizations and other non-profit organizations within Hunterdon County that provide public art projects, programs, services and development.
Grant awards are competitive and seek to encourage artistic excellence at the local level. Applications for 2027 LAP Grants and Mini Grants are open and due on October 30, 2026. Technical assistance workshops will be held in person at 2:00PM on September 16, 2026 and at 10:00AM on October 8, 2026 at the Hunterdon County Historic Courthouse (71 Main Street, Flemington).

Funding for all grants and re-grants is contingent on funds being made available to the HCC&HC by the entities to whom we apply for funding.
Submission of an application does not guarantee that an organization will be funded. Having received funds from prior grant rounds does not guarantee that an organization will be funded, nor does the amount of a prior grant award guarantee that an organization will receive the same or greater amount in the upcoming application round.
