Lois Atkinson Fund: People with Disabilities is sponsored by Atkinson Foundation. Supports nonprofit organizations in San Mateo County that address the needs of people with disabilities, including those focusing on education and youth development for underserved elementary and middle school students.

Providing opportunities for individuals in San Mateo County to attain their highest potential. We focus our funding in two broad program areas and make funding decisions based on our social justice values. Education and Youth Development We are committed to supporting community-based and community-led organizations that address the needs identified by the San Mateo County communities they serve.

We fund programs in areas of educational, social, and economic life, to assist individuals’ efforts to become independent and self-sufficient, and to generally improve the quality of their lives. We fund programs that serve residents of San Mateo County. In our decision-making, we prioritize organizations headquartered in the Bay Area that provide the majority of their services to San Mateo County residents .

The Board meets three times a year to review proposals and make decisions. Applicants can expect a prompt notification once a decision has been made.
