Long Island Curling Club :: Dedicated Ice Initiative Info Dedicated Ice Initiative 🥌🏠 The Long Island Dedicated Ice Initiative is a capital campaign to raise funds so that we can be in our own facility. Whether you are an LICC member, love the sport of curling, or are a proud supporter of Long Island, this initiative's main goal is the betterment of the Long Island community.

Several other clubs, including Evergreen Curling Club (OR) and Fort Wayne Curling Club (IN), have recently been successful utilizing this model as well.

Our plan is to follow this model by: Finding suitable vacant space (5-10 year lease) Renovating and updating the space for code compliance and curling needs Utilizing portable equipment (ice mats, etc.) to ease our move/expansion in the future Making it the best we can (some sacrifices from the long-term vision will need to be made initially) This option provides a great improvement from the arena model and comes at a lower cost compared to a larger, purpose-built facility envisioned in our long-term plan.

A leased warehouse space can support a club eternally, though the club lacks full control and may not reach our ultimate long-term vision in a leased space alone. The initial estimate is based on a phased approach, starting with 2 sheets (75-100 members per sheet), used equipment, in a leased building, with no kitchen unless economically feasible.

Ice construction (including chillers, dehumidifier, insulation, pad installed): $285,000 Non-ice construction: $70,000 Architectural, engineering and permits: $25,000 Ice making equipment: $15,000 Miscellaneous expenses: $5,000 Operating expenses (including first year of operation): $200,000 Campaign Tiers & Benefits Individual Campaign & Benefits The heart of our curling club is our members and friends, and strong involvement and collective dedication from individuals in the curling community will be integral for our success in this initiative.
