Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) - Iowa is sponsored by IMPACT Community Action Partnership (administering for Boone, Marion, Jasper, Polk, and Warren counties). The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) can help eligible households stay safe and warm in the winter by providing financial assistance with home heating bills and protection from disconnection.

Households may receive a one-time payment to their utility provider.

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) can help eligible households stay safe and warm in the winter by providing financial assistance with home heating bills and protection from disconnection until April 1st.

The LIHEAP Program opens on October 1st for early applicants (Households with elderly or disabled members or households at risk of disconnection from services) and remains open until April 30th. Households that do not meet the early application criteria can apply beginning November 1st.

Your household may be able to receive a one-time payment to your utility provider if you meet income guidelines and provide the required documentation for your household . The amount of assistance will depend on income level , family size, the type of fuel you use to heat your home, and other factors. If you heat your home with liquid propane (LP), you can qualify to receive a delivery of propane through this program.

Other funding might be available throughout the year to help prevent energy shutoffs, reconnect services, and to repair or replace furnaces. Please contact us at 515-518-4770 or info@impactcap. org to inquire about available assistance throughout the year.

It will reopen during the 2026-2027 LIHEAP program year in October of 2026. If you need assistance, please reach out using one of the options above.

An applicant may initiate an appeal if their application was denied, or incorrect facts or improper procedures were used to determine eligibility, assistance amounts, or services. You may use this link to report any suspected waste, fraud, or abuse. ​ Weatherization Assistance Program Weatherization Assistance Program Weatherization is a program established to help reduce the heating and cooling costs for low-income people – particularly the elderly, disabled and children – by improving the energy efficiency of their homes, thereby reducing the household’s energy bills.

This component works to tighten and insulate homes against the elements and to assure the safety of appliances by providing health and safety checks, appliance replacement, home insulation, minor repairs and client education. IMPACT partners with Polk County Public Works and Mid-Iowa Community Action (MICA) to provide Weatherization services to all of our service counties.

Weatherization Assistance Program Residents of Boone, Marion, Jasper, Polk, and Warren counties may call 515-518-4770 apply. To be eligible for Weatherization, households must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level or approved for the LIHEAP Program. Priority is determined by a state matrix that includes fuel usage and household data.

Not all that qualify and apply will receive assistance. Weatherization Assistance Program What if my furnace stops working? Residents of Boone, Marion, Jasper, Polk, and Warren counties may call 515-518-4770 to submit an application for a furnace repair or replacement.

Weatherization Assistance Program Occasionally, we have funding available for water bills. If your water has been disconnected or you have a disconnect notice, you may be eligible for assistance with charges, fees and taxes. Benefit payments for qualifying households are made directly to water vendors.
