The Lubrizol Foundation, established in 1952, is a philanthropic arm of Lubrizol Corporation focused on supporting nonprofit organizations and charities in communities where Lubrizol operates. With a mission centered on enhancing overall well-being, the Foundation aims to create lasting impact through targeted investments.

As part of Lubrizol's centennial goals, the Foundation has pledged to improve at least 2,028,000 lives and contribute a minimum of $20,280,000 by 2028, guided by its corporate community investment priorities. The Foundation's grants are directed toward nonprofit organizations that align with key pillars of investment: quality education, hunger relief and health, and environmental sustainability.

These priorities are grounded in alignment with several UN Sustainable Development Goals, including education (SDG 4), zero hunger and good health (SDGs 2 and 3), and environmental protection (SDGs 11, 13, 14, and 15). Grants are available only to U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofits that serve communities where Lubrizol facilities are located, and that are in good standing with compliance standards via NPOConnect.

To apply for funding, eligible organizations must submit an application through the YourCause GrantsConnect Applicant Portal. First-time applicants must create an account using a Blackbaud ID. The Lubrizol Foundation strongly encourages applicants to maintain up-to-date profiles in NPOConnect, which is essential for application processing, payment, and reporting.

Applications are reviewed in three cycles per year, and the grant award process is competitive. A post-award waiting period of three years is required before a recipient may reapply, ensuring a wide distribution of funding support. Grants typically range from $5,000 to $40,000 and must not be used for athletic or fundraising events, youth leagues, individuals, political or religious organizations, or discriminatory programs.

A post-grant impact report is required from recipients, covering program outcomes, budget variances, and reflections from the executive leadership. Failure to comply with reporting requirements within one year of the program’s end may impact eligibility for future funding. Each application cycle is time-bound, with reviews occurring in March, July, and November corresponding to submission windows.

The Foundation accepts applications year-round but assigns them to specific review cycles based on the date received. For example, applications submitted between October 17, 2025 and February 10, 2026 will be reviewed in March 2026. Applications received after October 15 will roll into the next calendar year’s review.

Organizations may only apply once every three years. Grants must support community impact priorities aligned with UN SDGs. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations listed by the IRS, located in and serving a community where a Lubrizol facility exists in the U.S., compliant with NPOConnect standards, and able to meet post-award reporting requirements.

Religious, political, and discriminatory organizations are ineligible. Applicants may only receive one grant every three years.
