Gordon Lymbery Scholarship | Community Foundation of Northern Nevada Gordon Lymbery Scholarship Candidates for the Gordon Lymbery, PhD Memorial Scholarship must have graduated from a Northern Nevada high school, or received a GED, and must be seeking an Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. D. was born in Reno in 1949. After receiving degrees from the University of Nevada, Reno (Bachelor of Science, Agriculture) and the University of Wyoming (Master of Science, Range Management), he became the first doctoral candidate in Range Science at New Mexico State University, Las Cruces and ultimately was the first person to earn his Doctor of Philosophy in Range Science at the school before returning to Nevada.

He settled in Spring Creek, Nevada where he opened and operated a Range and Ranch Management consulting business. Gordon was always unassuming and dealt with others in an honorable and fair manner. All people were his friends unless they proved otherwise and he enjoyed encouraging others in whatever endeavor they wanted to pursue.

Through hard work and determination, Gordon was able to achieve his goals and he believed that with a little encouragement others could also set and reach their own goals in order to live a better life. Established in memory of Gordon, this scholarship fund is dedicated to that philosophy.

Criteria for the Gordon Lymbery, PhD Memorial Scholarship Candidates for the Gordon Lymbery, PhD Memorial Scholarship must have graduated from a Northern Nevada high school, or received a GED, and must be seeking an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree. Awards for up to $1,000 are available for graduates of any Northern Nevada high school.

Please see the Lymbery Certification Scholarship if you are seeking a certificate. This is a one-time award but has the potential to be renewed with reapplication. Eligible applicants must: Be seeking an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree Have a minimum GPA of 2.

5 Have a minimum SAT score of 1000 and/or ACT score of 22 Be a resident of the State of Nevada Agree to maintain a minimum 2.

5 GPA and submit an unofficial copy of transcripts at the end of each semester they are receiving an award Along with this application, you’ll be required to attach: Letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or college professor Letter of acceptance from the chosen State of Nevada institution of higher education Essay explaining why you chose your course of study, what you will accomplish with your education, and how this will impact your life and your family Eligible schools: State of Nevada institutions of higher education, including University of Nevada, Reno, Truckee Meadows Community College, Western Nevada College, and Great Basin College.
