Main Street Redevelopment Incentive Grant (Louisiana) is sponsored by Louisiana Office of Cultural Development, Division of Historic Preservation. The Louisiana Main Street Redevelopment Incentive Grant encourages community revitalization and reinvestment in historic downtown commercial buildings.

National Park Service Historic Preservation Fund Grants | Division of Historic Preservation skip all navigation to page content Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism FY 26-27 NATIONAL PARK SERVICE HISTORIC PRESERVATION FUND Each year, Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and the Division of Historic Preservation (DHP) and Archaeology distribute an allocation of federal funds for historic preservation projects through a competitive grants process.

These funds are allocated to the Louisiana State Historic Preservation Office (LASHPO) by the U. S. Department of the Interior's National Park Service, Historic Preservation Fund (HPF).

The focus of the grant proposals should be related to ongoing state and federally mandated programs and initiatives that are outlined in the Louisiana Comprehensive Plan. In 2026, LASHPO will give special priority to Goal C. 2.

Expand Public Access to Digital Preservation Information .

Examples of related projects include, but are not limited to: - Digitization of records, documents, and photographs related to physical resources - Development of website content, story maps, or online tours that highlight historic resources - Development of historic district guidelines and updates in digital format for easy access Other proposals that relate to ongoing state and federally mandated programs and initiatives outlined in the Louisiana Comprehensive Plan entitled Together for Louisiana 2026-2030.

Please reference the State Plan for specific Objectives and Strategies outlined in each goal. All proposals must include an outreach, public education, or media component within the overall proposed grant project. LETTERS OF INTEREST : The DHP will accept Letters of Interest through April 29, 2026.

These letters provide an opportunity to submit a project idea and receive feedback from staff. A letter of interest is encouraged but not required and does not replace a completed grant application.

Typical recipients include historic preservation organizations, parish governments, economic development districts, planning commissions, museum houses, state agencies, municipal governments, educational institutions, historic district commissions and Certified Local Governments (CLG). Previously funded projects include, but are not limited to, the development of preservation plans, design guidelines, and document digitization.

Previous projects also included surveys of historic districts, preparation of National Register nominations, Historic American Building Survey (HABS) documentation and educational activities to promote historic preservation.

Typical funded CLG projects include the development of design guidelines for historic districts, municipal Historic Resource Inventory Surveys, feasibility studies on a single or group of historic buildings, condition assessments and historic structures reports. Projects also include public information projects relative to historic preservation and historic preservation training programs for officials and local citizens.

These awarded grant funds must be matched by non-federal monies on at least a 60/40 basis, though grantees may elect to overmatch. Grant funds are distributed on a reimbursable basis only (the recipient makes an expenditure and is subsequently reimbursed for the grant portion of the expenditure when the necessary billing documentation is received).
