Global Education & Training - Children's Eye Foundation Global Education & Training CEF of AAPOS’ Global Education & Training Initiative helps international physicians and emerging pediatric ophthalmologists attend the AAPOS Annual Meeting. This yearly gathering brings together experts in pediatric eye care, providing a platform to discuss the latest medical advancements and newest technologies.
In 2012, the late Dr. Marilyn Miller made the inaugural gift that established what is now the Miller International Travel Award. Her generosity, and the continued support of our donors, has allowed 35 pediatric ophthalmologists from more than 20 countries to participate in the AAPOS Annual Meeting, many from underserved areas.
CEF expanded its training program in 2023 to include the Knights Templar Eye Foundation Ophthalmology Resident/Medical Student Travel Grant, a program designed to nurture the next generation of pediatric ophthalmologists. This funding helps medical students and residents from KTEF commanderies to attend the AAPOS Annual Meeting.
Since its inception, more than 100 travel grants have been awarded, with many recipients presenting their research or posters at the meeting. Applications are now open for the 2028 Marilyn Miller Travel Award. The deadline to apply for the 2028 grant is July 10, 2026.
