Marion Stedman Covington Foundation Grant Guidelines & Application » Selected Grantees » Marion Stedman Covington had a long history of volunteerism and philanthropy, with memberships and involvements in numerous state and national organizations. Her lifelong passion was North Carolina historic preservation and she became a leader in that movement for over 15 years.
In 1991, Preservation North Carolina recognized Mrs. Covington’s contributions by naming her Honorary Life President. The mission of the Marion Stedman Covington Foundation is to advocate for historic preservation in North Carolina through financial support to advance our heritage. The Covington Foundation provides grant funding for historic preservation projects across the state of North Carolina.
As such, preference is given to critical enabling revenue and proposals in which Covington grants generate other resources and projects which may serve as models for other communities. Funds are provided for: Acquisition / Rehabilitation / Restoration Operating and Program Support Organizational Development The Grant Application Process Review the Grant Guidelines Eastern Carolina Village and Farm Museum Eagles School, ca 1903.
They received a $10,000 grant to support restoration of the school in 2017. Carolina Theatre in Greensboro, NC received a $20,000 grant to support plaster repair in 2017. Rehoboth Church Preservation Society in Roper, NC received a $9,000 grant for window restoration in 2018.
TreesNC received a $12,000 grant to support restoration of the 1839 Asheboro Female Academy in 2016.
