State of Florida Grants and Scholarships State of Florida Grants and Scholarships State of Florida Grants and Scholarships The Florida BrightFutures Scholarship is a merit award based on high school academic achievement.

The Florida Department of Education, Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA), administers a variety of state-funded grants and scholarships to assist Florida residents with the cost of their post secondary education. Below is a list of grant and scholarship programs administered by OSFA.

Types of Bright Future Scholarship Programs Applicable fees include: activity and service fees, health fees, athletic fees, financialaid fees, campus access/transportation fees, and technology fees. (FAS)recipients may receive funding for up to five years from high school graduationfor a maximum of 120 semester hours toward the completion of a firstbaccalaureate degree.

TheFlorida Academic Scholars will receive an award amount equal to 212. 00 percredit. Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS) This scholarship is less competitive than the FAS, but it still has relatively highminimum test scores and GPA requirements.

Florida Medallion Scholar (FMS)recipients may receive funding for up to five years from high school graduationfor a maximum of 120 semester hours toward the completion of a firstbaccalaureate degree. Florida Medallion Scholars will receive an award fortuition and applicable fall, spring, and summer fees. Applicable fees includeactivity and service, health, athletic, financial aid, access/transportation,and technology fees.

The Florida Medallion Scholars Award is $159. 00 per credithour. Mary McLeod Bethune Scholarship Program (MMB) The Mary McLeod Bethune Scholarship (MMB) provides financial assistance to undergraduate students who meet scholastic requirements, demonstrate financial need, and attend Bethune-Cookman University, Edward Waters University, Florida A&M University, or Florida Memorial University.

Each participating institution determines application procedures, deadlines, and student eligibility. The Mary McLeod Bethune Scholarship Award amount is up to 3,000. 00 The scholarship opens on May 1, 2025, and closes on August 4, 2025, for the Fall term and November 1, 2025, and closes on January 5, 2026, for the Spring term.

Florida Student Assistant Grant (FSAG) The Florida Student Assistance Grant(FSAG) Program is a need-based grant program available to degree-seeking,resident, undergraduate students who demonstrate substantial financial need andare enrolled in participating postsecondary institutions.

Florida Work Experience Program The Florida Work Experience Program (FWEP) is a need-based program providing eligible Florida students with workexperiences to complement and reinforce their educational and career goals.

Each eligible and participating college, university, Florida College System institution, charter technical career center operated by a district school board, andeducator preparation institute determines application procedures, deadlines,student eligibility, and award amount.

Jose Marti Scholarship Challenge Grant Fund The José Martí Scholarship Challenge Grant Fund is a need-based merit scholarship thatprovides financial assistance to eligible students of Hispanic origin who will attend Florida public or eligible private institutions. Effective Access to Student Education The William L.

Boyd, IV, Effective Access to Student Education Program provides tuition assistance to Florida undergraduate students attending an eligible private, Florida college or university. Each participating institution determines application procedures, deadlines, and student eligibility. The postsecondary institution will disburse awards to eligible students each term.

Awards are not currently available for the summer term. The last day to submit documents for EASE in the Fall term is September 1 .

The last day to submit documents and the EASE application for the Spring term is February 1 Minority Teacher Education Scholars Program The Minority Teacher EducationScholars (MTES) program is a collaborative performance-based scholarship program for African American, Hispanic American, Asian American, and NativeAmerican students administered by the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers, Inc.(FFMT).

The participating institutions include Florida College System institutionsand public and private universities that have teacher education programs. A listing of eligible institutions and contact information is available at the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers. The FFMT will determine applicant eligibility.

Bright Futures Eligibility and Requirements Eligibilityand application criteria are available from your high school guidance office,or the Florida Bright Futures Program website . Students are not required to submit a FAFSA inorder to receive both initial and renewal Bright Futures eligibility. Studentsare encouraged to submit the FAFSA to learn of potential eligibility foradditional state and federal aid.

Note: Gold Seal (Cape/or Vocational) Scholarships are notoffered at BC-U as we are a post-secondary institution specializing in degreeprograms. With drawing from Courses If you are a Bright Futures scholarship recipient and youwithdraw from one or more classes, our office is required to return the BrightFutures funding you received for that term to the Florida Department ofEducation.
