Maryland Grow Your Own Educators Grant Program Apply for Child Care Scholarships Public Information Act Requests Apply or Renew Certification National Board Certification Moving Special Education Forward Office of Finance and Operations Office of Finance and Operations Information Technology Branch Facilities and Operations Branch Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs Pupil Transportation and Emergency Management Branch Office of Equity Assurance and Compliance Procurement and Contract Management Branch Office of School Facilities Maryland Grow Your Own Educators Grant Program The Maryland Grow Your Own Educators Grant Program helps local school systems build a sustainable teacher pipeline by recruiting and preparing school-based employees from their own communities to become licensed teachers while they continue working in Maryland schools.
The program supports formal collaboratives between a local school system, at least one employee organization representing employees, and at least one Maryland institution of higher education or approved alternative partnership model. Grant funds may be used for allowable costs such as tuition, books, fees, and mentor support for participating candidates.
In return, participants commit to a three-year service pledge as full-time teachers in high-needs schools, grade levels, or content areas within the same local school system where they are employed.
GRANT INFORMATION GUIDE (GIG) APPLICATION FOR PARTICIPATION Due to multiple days of inclement weather that have caused closures at local education agencies and institutions of higher education, the deadline for the Grow Your Own Educators Grant has been extended by one week to Monday, March 9, 2026 , at 11:59 PM ET.
Collaboratives that submit their grant proposal by the original deadline of March 2, 2026, can expect a grant award decision by the original deadline of April 15, 2026. Collaboratives that submit their grant proposal after March 2, 2026, but by March 9, 2026, can expect a grant award decision by April 22, 2026. When will the application be open?
The Grant Information Guide (GIG) was released on December 2, 2025 , and the application window runs from Application Submission Date Monday, March 9, 2026. Proposals must be submitted by email no later than $19,434,000 is available to support awards under the Maryland Grow Your Own Educators Grant Program. Estimated Number of Grants MSDE anticipates making approximately twenty-four (24) grant awards under this program.
Customer Service Support Sessions MSDE will hold four customer service support sessions (pre-proposal information sessions) for interested applicants. During these sessions, MSDE personnel will provide an overview of the application process and key requirements.
