Grants & Applications | MD Two Fifty MD Two Fifty SMALL Grants PROGRAM The MD Two Fifty small grants program has concluded, with more than 170 grants totaling more than $750,000 awarded in Baltimore City and every Maryland county funding Citizen Academies, Inclusive History projects, programs, exhibits, and events, and MD Two Fifty Fellows paid interns.

All funding for Citizen Academies, Inclusive History, and MD Two Fifty Fellows has been expended. MD Two Fifty continues to encourage local communities to launch citizen academies. MD Two Fifty once in A generation grant program The MD Two Fifty Once in a Generation grant program has concluded. Grants of up to $15,000 were awarded to support local 250 commissions and committees throughout Maryland in developing memorable and unique commemorative activities for the 250th. Eligibility was limited to one grant per county, and to counties participating in a local or regional 250 commission or committee.

William G. Pomeroy Foundation Helping Communities Celebrate and Preserve Their History Hometown Heritage Marker Grant Program The Hometown Heritage™ grant program commemorates people, places, things or events that are historically significant to the larger community and beyond with historical roadside markers.

This nationwide program seeks to capture local history, especially for those in states without marker programs or for subjects which may not qualify for the applicant’s state marker program. Hometown Heritage helps communities to commemorate and preserve important historic milestones. The emblem at the top of each marker will display an outline of the state where the marker is placed.

The Thomas V. “Mike” Miller Jr. History Fund provides support for projects at museums, historical societies, libraries, and other repositories throughout the state of Maryland. Special focus will be given to 250-focused projects.

Grant funds will support projects focused on the American Revolution in preparation for our country’s 250th anniversary. If your organization need funds to restore an historical object or structure that relates to the Revolutionary War, or to educate visitors about your site’s involvement in America’s struggle for independence, we may be able to help!

In honor of the momentous occasion of the 250th anniversary of American Independence, the National Endowment for the Humanities is issuing a call for proposals for Celebrate America! , a new initiative to recognize the nation’s semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026.

Through this program, NEH will award 250 challenge grants of up to $25,000 each for projects that focus on the founding of the American nation, key historical figures, and milestones that reflect the exceptional achievements of the United States. New History and Civics Seminars The U.S. Department of Education announced a new American History and Civics Seminars grant program to mark America’s 250th anniversary.

This program will fund evidence-based seminars that deepen understanding of U.S. history, the Constitution, and civic principles, with priority given to colleges and universities that already offer civic or constitutional studies programs.

Semiquincentennial Grants The National Park Service’s Semiquincentennial Grant Program was created to restore and preserve historic sites, structures, districts, and objects that are listed in the National Register of Historic Places and relate to the founding of the United States (defined through the end of the War of 1812 / 1815). Eligible applicants include local governments, non-profits, institutions of higher education, and tribes.

The funding comes from the Historic Preservation Fund, which is supported by outer continental shelf oil and gas lease revenues. Semiquincentennial Greetings from Gov. Wes Moore
