The Young Africa Works Strategy | Mastercard Foundation 30 million young Africans, particularly women, in dignified and fulfilling work by 2030. Africa’s multi-decade demographic boom holds tremendous potential for inclusive growth, but the millions of young people entering the labour market each year haven’t acquired the skills demanded by the market so they have difficulty finding work and starting businesses.
Small businesses in Africa lack the finances and expertise to grow and create jobs. Addressing this challenge could have a transformative impact on the continent. Work collaboratively to design and implement tailored programs based on a country’s economic priorities and needs to connect supply and demand sides of the labour markets.
Enabling Access to Finance: To grow employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. Support Labour Market Development: Connect job seekers, education institutions, and employers. Bolster Education and Training Systems: To equip young people with the skills they need for today and in the future.
Engage and empower young people, particularly young women, as transformational leaders. Leverage technology and innovative financial tools for greater impact. Share knowledge and advance global discussions on the Future of Work in Africa so others join the challenge.
Support African institutions to advance change in their countries. Lead with our culture and values of humility and listening to others.
