MBIA Commercialization Innovation Grant is sponsored by Maryland Business Innovation Association (MBIA) (with support from TEDCO). This grant program channels strategic funding to eligible companies within MBIA Entrepreneurial Support Organization members' centers or program communities.

This competitive program was open to startups participating in one of MBIA’s member entrepreneurial support organizations.

A volunteer team of 13 industry professionals and experienced entrepreneurs evaluated 17 applications and selected nine Maryland-based startups to receive up to $5,000 each to advance their commercialization efforts while strengthening the state’s innovation ecosystem through the use of Maryland-based vendors and service providers.

“It is an honor to collaborate with TEDCO and our tireless entrepreneurial support organizations to shine the light on and back founders working at the very tipping point of innovation,” said Hakim Dyer, interim executive director of MBIA. “Maryland is where strong ideas connect with deep technical capacity to become the products, services and companies of the future."

The MBIA Commercialization Innovation Grant, long funded by TEDCO, provides vital nondilutive financial support to early-stage Maryland startups developing innovative, technology-enabled business models that often face challenges securing funding for the essential resources needed to advance commercialization.

The FY26 MCIG awardees are developing life-changing technology, improving institutional reporting capacity, managing health records and strengthening energy infrastructure. “TEDCO remains dedicated to identifying, investing in and helping grow technology- and life sciences-based startups across Maryland; programs like the MCIG help us advance that mission,” said Troy LeMaile-Stovall , CEO of TEDCO.

, and a member of the Fredrick Innovative Technology Center (FITCI), BioEvanesce is developing an AI-based surgical intelligence platform, “PreSurgent,” from computed tomography (CT) scans of the abdominal cavity for diagnostic and preoperative clarity initially targeting adhesive small bowel obstructions. BlueHealer, Inc. – Based in Baltimore, Md.

, at the Johns Hopkins school for Biomedical Engineering and a member of Harbor Designs & Manufacturing, BlueHealer is a MedTech startup developing patent-pending intramedullary bone transplants that promote new blood vessel growth, restore tissue perfusion, heal chronic non-healing wounds and diabetic foot ulcers, and prevent avoidable amputations and repeat interventions. BrickRose Exchange – Based in Baltimore, Md.

, and a member of the University of Baltimore Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, BrickRose Exchange is a WBENC-certified woman-owned innovation consultancy operating at the intersection of AI workforce development, technology, commercialization and institutional systems design. They aim to build frameworks, tools and infrastructure that help institutions measure and prove the impact of their innovation investments.

Linshom Medical – Based in Baltimore, Md. , and a member of Harbor Designs & Manufacturing, Linshom Medical aims to deliver an operating room (OR) quality respiratory profile to the patient bedside or home for continuous, predictive respiratory monitoring (CPRM). Melastone Energy Partners – Based in Baltimore, Md.

, and a member of the Maryland Energy Innovation Accelerator (MEIA), Melastone Energy Partners is a minority-owned clean energy infrastructure company building a grid-edge distributed energy resource management system (DERMS) platform and hardware controls for residential, multi-family / mixed-use and commercial sites including grocery stores and other tenant heavy properties. Monocacy Therapeutics – Based in Frederick, Md.

, and a member of FITCI, Monocacy Therapeutics is an early-stage biotechnology company developing AI-driven immunotherapies for cancer and autoimmune diseases. SpringWear - Based in Baltimore, Md. , and a member of Loyola University Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, SpringWear is a medical technology company developing wearable rehabilitation and assistive devices that help individuals regain hand function and improve independence at home. ThresholdStack, LLC – Based in North Bethesda, Md.

, and a member of the Maryland Energy Innovation Accelerator, ThresholdStack is a climate-tech company that aims to turn commercial, multi-family and industrial buildings into structured, performance-grade data.
