McCook Community Foundation Fund Community Grant is sponsored by McCook Community Foundation Fund. The McCook Community Foundation Fund invests in innovation, economic and educational opportunities, quality community leadership, cultural arts, and healthy families and lifestyles. Organizations working in these areas are encouraged to apply for a Community Grant.

McCook Community Foundation Fund - Nebraska Community Foundation McCook Community Foundation Fund The McCook Community Foundation Fund is working to make McCook and Southwest Nebraska an even better place to call home. Since its formation in 2001, the Fund has granted more than $2 million to community organizations.

The grants have benefitted McCook and the surrounding area in many ways, from youth programs to services for the elderly, from education and cultural activities to large and small community projects. From the beginning, our grants have continued to reflect our focus on people. MCFF has helped young people with scholarships, funded leadership opportunities and promoted healthy families.

Additionally, MCFF has developed a focus on arts and culture through programs with the McCook Arts Council, thanks to the generosity during the Sehnert Challenge.

MCFF has taken on additional roles in the community, leading sessions with organizations for their mission, vision and values; restarting the McCook Philanthropy Council with a focus on gift planning; and participating in many community discussions about the future of the community.

Making McCook an even better place to call home MCFF is connecting and impacting our community through intentional investment of time and financial resources. Stewardship | MCFF will wisely use all of its resources, believing in honesty , integrity , confidentiality. Respectful | MCFF values people and will work to be inclusive and accepting, making sure both growing up and growing old are priorities.

McCook Community Foundation Fund will place priority on projects that will have a broad impact on the quality of life for a significant number of people, propose creative ways to address community needs, engage young people in the community, or support innovative approaches to economic development. A permanent account whose assets are invested to generate an ongoing source of income year after year. Investment earnings from the endowment are used to support community improvements and programs. The Fund Advisory Committee determines how the money generated from the endowment will be used to benefit the community now and in the future.

Barbara Fassler-Neumann Nursing Scholarship Endowment Account The account shall be used for scholarships to a graduating senior of an area high school, a graduate of an area high school currently pursuing study in the medical field or be a resident of southwest Nebraska for four years and have graduated with a high school degree pursuing further studies in the medical field.

Birdella Nelson Endowment for the Library Account A permanent endowment in memory of Birdella Nelson for the purpose of supporting the McCook Public Library in McCook, Nebraska. Bison Alumni & Newsletter To benefit and sustain the Bison Alumni Newsletter. An account to support the charitable activities related to the promotion of the community of McCook, Nebraska and its surrounding southwest area, including Beautify McCook.

Community Chest of McCook Account An account to raise funds to provide grants to 501(c)(3) organizations or governmental entities which serve humanitarian and social service needs of the communities in southwest Nebraska. Community Hospital Endowment Account To build an endowment fund to support the Community Hospital Health Foundation, a Sec. 501(c)(3) organization, in McCook, Nebraska.

Frank and Marion Weiland Scholarship Account The Account shall be used for scholarship to students meeting the following criteria: - Graduate of McCook High School - Enrolled in or intending to enroll in a two-year degree program Preference shall be given to candidates who demonstrate: - Involvement in sports or music - A career interest in education - Community engagement through volunteer service and leadership - Interest in returning to Southwest Nebraska To raise funds to support McCook, Nebraska’s Heritage Square.

Hillcrest Nursing Home Foundation Endowment A permanent endowment that provides funds to support the Hillcrest Nursing Home Foundation, Inc., a Sec. 501(c)(3) public charity located in McCook, Nebraska. HomeTown Competitiveness (HTC) Youth Task Force To support charitable activities related to the engagement and retention of youth and young adults in the McCook community.

HTC – Youth Advisory Council Endowment To provide funds for grantmaking by the McCook Community Foundation Fund Youth Advisory Council. Grants will be made to enhance the quality of life for youth and young adults in the McCook and surrounding area. Kathryn A.

501(c)(3) organization, whose mission is to help enhance educational opportunities and scholarships for students and graduates of the McCook Public Schools in McCook, Nebraska. McCook Learn and Return Scholarship Account An account to be used for scholarships for graduates of McCook High School who intend to return to McCook following completing of their postsecondary education program.

Myron Mingo Memorial Account To contribute an annual payout to support the Men’s Basketball Program at the McCook Community College in McCook, NE in memory of Myron Mingo.

Myron was a former McCook Community College basketball player. Nelda Hagg Scholarship Endowment Account The account shall be used for a scholarship to a graduating senior Red Willow, Furnas, Frontier, Hayes and Hitchcock counties.

The focus for selecting the recipient will be based upon leadership and self-motivation through involvement in extracurricular activities in high school; a dedication to agriculture or rural living; a desire to return to a rural area or Southwest Nebraska; lifelong learning; the personal essay; and financial need.
