Apply for a Grant – The McMillan Family Foundation The Foundation is dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs and organizations committed to generational wealth building, educational equity, and positive community impact. This policy ensures responsible use of funds and measurable results from all grant recipients.

Grants must be awarded to: Aspiring entrepreneurs with a defined business idea or launch plan Early-stage or growth-minded business owners Nonprofit or community organizations aligned with our mission Students receiving educational assistance (for scholarship-based grants) Minority based business operating in the United States NOTE: Employees, officers and directors of the McMillan Family Foundation (the “Sponsor”), and Sponsor’s parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising, contest, fulfillment and marketing agencies (all of such entities including, but not limited to, the Sponsor are collectively referred to herein as the, “Grantor Parties”), their immediate families (parent, child, sibling and spouse and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and persons living in the same households as such individuals (whether related or not) are not eligible to participate in grant submissions.

Employees, officers, and directors of the Foundation or its affiliates, their immediate families, and household members are not eligible to apply. Applicants must demonstrate alignment with the Foundation’s core values of integrity, accountability, and impact.

Grant funds must be used strictly for the purposes outlined in the approved application, which may include: Startup or business expansion costs Technology, equipment, or inventory purchases Marketing and branding efforts Professional development, coaching, trainings, or certifications Tuition or educational expenses Funds may not be used for: Personal expenses unrelated to the grant purpose Travel or entertainment not directly related to the funded activity Political campaigns or lobbying activities Repayment of personal debt or loans Alcohol, tobacco, or adult content-related ventures Grant funds will be disbursed by check, ACH, or another approved method after all required documentation is received.

Our Current Grant Programs The Empowerment Micro-Grant The McMillan Family Foundation currently offers quarterly micro-grants of $1,500 designed specifically to support new and existing minority entrepreneurs who want to launch or expand their businesses.

These grants provide critical seed funding and resources to help turn business ideas into reality and foster sustainable growth.

Quarterly Grant Application Periods: Quarter 1: Applications accepted January 1 – March 1 | Winner announced March 31 Quarter 2: Applications accepted April 1 – June 1 | Winner announced June 22 Quarter 3: Applications accepted July 1 – September 1 | Winner announced September 28 Quarter 4: Applications accepted October 1 – November 1 | Winner announced November 30 All applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM CST on the due date to be considered for that quarter’s grant round.

The grant amount may vary each year depending on the Foundation’s budget. RC and Maggie McMillan, the paternal grandparents of Co-Founder Ced McMillan, were married for over 60 years and raised eight children while building a legacy of hard work, family, and community. Ced created this special grant in memory of his grandparents, with whom he spent a tremendous amount of time growing up.

Their strong relationship and life lessons deeply impacted him, and this grant serves as a way to honor their enduring legacy. They founded McMillan’s BBQ , a beloved local landmark that remains a staple in the community to this day. This grant celebrates their commitment to resilience, entrepreneurship, and service—qualities reflected in every recipient.
