The Medical Center Foundation Seeks Applications for 2015 Golf Tournament Beneficiary - Northeast Georgia Health System Thursday, August 14, 2014 Although the 2014 Medical Center Open Golf Tournament benefiting Center Point is just around the corner, plans are in the works to select a beneficiary for the 2015 Medical Center Open Golf Tournament.
“We are beginning the process of selecting the beneficiary of the proceeds of next year’s Medical Center Open, which will take place in October of 2015,” says Nancy Colston, president and chief development officer of The Medical Center Foundation. “By selecting the next beneficiary now, we will position ourselves to work on the 2015 tournament as soon as this year’s tournament ends.
” The Medical Center Open beneficiary is determined by The Medical Center Foundation Board of Trustees, a voluntary body of community leaders who raise funds on behalf of The Medical Center Foundation. The Board is chaired by Jim Moore. The Medical Center Foundation has raised more than $42 million through its Healthy Journey Campaigns, and, since 1997, an additional $2.
7 million has been given back to the community through proceeds from The Medical Center Open Golf Tournament. The Medical Center Foundation is looking for tangible projects that have community appeal from organizations that demonstrate financial stability, sustainability for the future and a strong management team.
Applicants for the 2015 Medical Center Open Beneficiary should be non-profit [501(c)(3)] agencies that have a project in need of funding which is focused on improving the physical health of the community. The Foundation is looking for projects that will have a positive impact on the largest number of lives. Funds raised for this project will be available after the tournament in October 2015.
Requests should range from $200,000 to $225,000. Applicants are asked to submit a one-page letter of interest. They are also asked to submit their most recent tax exemption letter; past two years audited financial statements plus current year financials; list of current board of directors; and list of current funding sources.
The application must be received by The Medical Center Foundation by 5 p. m. on Monday, September 1.
In the letter of interest, applicants are asked to outline: Description of project to be funded, including the purpose of the project The amount being requested for the project (including full budget detail) The target audience and number of citizens expected to be reached How the project will improve health and quality of life, why the need is strong and compelling and why applicant believes project would have community appeal; in other words, why would a community member want to give money to this project?
Applicants must disclose if they have been the recipient of any other large special event fundraiser or capital campaign in the past three years or expect to receive one in the next year. Please include amount received from fundraiser(s). For more information, visit www.
