MfM Workforce Development Grant is sponsored by Moms for Moms NYC. This grant is designed to support low-income single mothers pursuing vocational and job-training to help them move from survival to sustainable careers.

ELIGIBILITY & APPLICATION | momsformomsnyc Eligibility & Application The MfM Workforce Development Grant is designed to support low-income single mothers pursuing vocational and job-training.

You must meet the following criteria: Single mother (not married or partnered in a dual-income household, can be divorced or widowed) Primary caregiver to one child age 5 or younger Reside in one of the five boroughs of New York City Eligible to work in the United States Household income at or below poverty level High school diploma or equivalency An active email address and phone number A computer with storage for downloading learning applications Our Workforce Development Grant committee will review all applications holistically and thoughtfully.

A complete application includes our application form, three essays, and supporting documents (see below). Applicants moving to the next round will be invited for an interview and may be asked to provide references. Recipients of the MfM Workforce Development Grant will join our first pilot cohort of single mothers who have been selected for our grant.

The application requires three essay questions. The application does not save as you go. *Second round applicants will be required to upload or email the 6 supporting documents listed below.

Describe your educational objectives and career goals Your supporting documents (one in each category) must provide proof of the following: 1.

Photo identification including date of birth permanent residence card (green card) utility bill (gas, electric, water) letter from case manager or shelter director if you reside in a shelter prior year’s income tax return (parents’ or parent’s tax return, if you are listed as a dependent) learner's permit: Some training programs require documentation verifying your current address.

A learner permit or other government-issued ID may be accepted by some schools, but many require an additional document, such as a utility bill, bank statement, lease, or official government mail. 3.

Employment authorization U.S. passport/passport card Social Security card (valid for employment) original or certified copy of a birth certificate issued by a state, county, municipal authority or outlying territory of the United States bearing an official seal permanent residence/green card: applicants must be legally authorized to study and work in the United States, either currently or by the time their training program is completed.

Immigration documentation will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine eligibility based on the applicant's current status, work authorization, and the requirements of the selected training program. 4. High school diploma or equivalency We have partnered with vocational and career training institutions across NYC. Recipients of the MfM Workforce Development Grant must enroll in one of the approved programs or courses listed below, unless otherwise approved by Moms for Moms. Participants are responsible for meeting all requirements set by the institution.

Applications received after this date will automatically be considered for Winter and Spring 2027 programs.
