Michigan New Jobs Training Program

Michigan New Jobs Training Program is sponsored by Michigan Community College Association / Michigan Community Colleges. This program authorizes community colleges to issue debt on behalf of employers creating new jobs or expanding operations in Michigan to fund job training.

Michigan Community College Association Michigan New Jobs Training Program The Michigan New Jobs Training Program is a local economic development initiative serving employers since 2008. The program authorizes community colleges to temporarily capture the state income tax withholding associated with newly hired workers to pay for training.

If your company is planning on expanding and adding new jobs in the state of Michigan, the program can provide the flexible funding to meet an assortment of employee training and development needs specifically designed for your business. There is NO RESTRICTION on employer size or industry, and funds can be used for a broad range of training (from short-term contract training to certificates and degrees).

edu Dean of Workforce and Continuing Education Vice President for Lifelong and Professional Learning Economic & Workforce Development Workforce & Economic Development Executive Director of the Niles Campus AVP Workforce/Comm Development Vice Chancellor, Student Success & Economic Development Director, Business Opportunity Center Funds can be used to pay for any direct training expenses, including: Testing and evaluation of employees Customized or general instruction at a training facility selected by the employer College tuition, books, and fees; and Services of a private trainer Companies eligible for the Michigan New Jobs Training Program must meet the following requirements: You will be hiring new full-time, permanent positions for a new or expanding business located in the state of Michigan; The new positions are not related to recalling laid off or replacement workers; The new positions are ones that did not exist within the previous 12 months at your business; and The minimum eligible pay is equal to the county ALICE rate* in which a job is primarily performed.

*The county ALICE rate is equal to the minimum hourly rate necessary to pay the minimal estimate of the total household essentials for a household of 1 adult and 1 child in the county in which a job is primarily performed, based on the most recent household survival budget data provided by United for ALICE at unitedforalice. org .
