The Micro-Grants for Food Security Program (MGFSP) assists agricultural agencies or departments in eligible states and territories to increase the quantity and quality of locally grown food in food insecure communities through small-scale gardening, herding, and livestock operations in food insecure communities in areas of the United States that have significant levels of food insecurity and import a significant quantity of foods.
The agricultural agencies or departments competitively distribute the funds through subawards to eligible entities. Subaward eligible activities may include small- scale gardening, small- scale herding and livestock operations, and activities to expand access to food and knowledge of food security.
Eligible applicants are agricultural agencies, commissions, or departments in Alaska, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Hawaii, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Republic of Palau, and the United States Virgin Islands.
Organizations or individuals interested in the MGFSP should contact their state department of agriculture for more information on how to apply within the state or territory listed above. Eligible entities include individuals, Indian tribes or tribal organizations as defined in 25 U.S.C.
§ 5304), nonprofit organizations that are engaged in increasing food security (e.g. religious organizations, food banks, food pantries), federally funded educational facilities (e.g. Head Start or Early head start programs, Public elementary or secondary schools, Public institutions of higher education, Tribal Colleges or Universities, Job training programs), Local or Tribal governments that may not levy local taxes under State or Federal law.
**Cost Sharing or Matching** Eligible applicants have no federal cost sharing or matching requirements. Eligible entities must provide 10% cash match of the amount received under the subaward. For more information, go to the MGFSP Awarded Grants webpage.

AMS will award these funds competitively to at least one eligible organization that meets program requirements and whose expertise is consistent with the purpose of the grant program. The purpose of SPMGP is to support projects that strengthen and enhance the production and marketing of sheep and sheep products in the United States. This includes improving infrastructure, business, and resource development, and the development of innovative approaches to solve long-term needs. The SPMGP seeks to develop solutions for practical problems across the United States and address the needs of the entire sheep industry, while focusing on the measurable benefits for sheep producers. The program encourages collaboration among sheep industry organizations and aims to reduce duplication of efforts among participating organizations. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), requests applications for the fiscal year (FY) 2026 Specialty Crop Multi-State Grant Program (SCMP). The SCMP supports collaborative multi-state partnerships to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops through competitively funded projects. A multi-state partnership is a project that implements activities with measurable outcomes that benefit two or more U.S. States and/or Territories along with non-profit entities.
