Natural Resources / Agriculture USDA MICRO-GRANTS FOR FOOD SECURITY PROGRAM NOTICE: The Division of Agriculture did not apply for the most recent (2026) cycle of USDA Micro-Grants for Food Security because the cost of administering the program far exceeds the allowable administrative costs, which are limited to no more than 3 percent of the total Federal funds provided under the award.
Administering the program would require diverting Division staff from responsibilities required by statute and higher-priority programs that the Division has determined have a greater positive impact on agriculture in the state. The Division will evaluate participation in future rounds of USDA Micro-Grants and may resume the program if the Division’s resources allow.
The Division will continue to administer other USDA grants and targeted relief programs in support of our mission to promote and encourage development of an agriculture industry in the State. The Division of Agriculture is in the process of closing out the prior years’ Micro-Grant for Food Security grants.
Please note that previously funded projects that are currently in their performance period or approved extended projects will continue as outlined in the performance period of their grant agreement. Current recipients of Micro-Grant funds are still required to complete their projects as described in their approved application.
Final reimbursements for grants will be processed upon receipt and approval of final performance reports/required backup documentation.
