Miggsie Fund - The Lawson Foundation Through our Miggsie Fund impact area, we honour Miggsie Lawson’s legacy and deep care for the region, supporting a range of organizations and initiatives that contribute to community wellbeing in London, Elgin and Middlesex counties and local Indigenous nations, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation; Oneida Nation of the Thames; and the Munsee-Delaware Nation.

During her lifetime, Margaret Anna Lawson (Otton), wife of Tom Lawson Sr., the son of Foundation founder Ray Lawson, brought her special vitality to a variety of interests and organizations in and around London, Ontario. She is fondly remembered by many as Magnificent Miggsie, a compassionate listener who was always ready when needed to provide financial support to help address community issues.

A tireless fundraiser for local causes, she loved to be out and about in her signature fire engine red convertible. The Miggsie Fund celebrates Miggsie Lawson’s love of the London area community and continues her philanthropic legacy.

Today, the Miggsie Fund supports a range of organizations and initiatives that contribute to community wellbeing in London, Elgin, and Middlesex counties, including the local Indigenous Nations: Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Oneida Nation of the Thames, and the Munsee-Delaware Nation.

With the assistance of community advisors, the Fund supports initiatives in both rural and urban areas through three complementary granting streams: Community Grants strengthen organizational capacity and fund projects that support a broad range of initiatives and activities that benefit the community. These are small, multi-year grants through open calls.

Collaborative Grants pool partner funding and amplify resources, allowing for flexible, timely support of initiatives that benefit the community. These are small, multi-year grants. Opportunity Grants support initiatives whose potential impacts have been identified as strategically significant to the community.

These projects aim to support innovative, transformational change at the systems level. Generally, these are larger grants, and the funding period may vary. The purpose of the Fund is to contribute to initiatives that create inclusive, equitable, and accessible programs and ensure that organizations and leaders are well-positioned to respond to local needs and drive positive change.
