About 4 — Mighty Oakes Heart Foundation Mighty Oakes Heart Foundation stands ready to help heart families. Our streamlined application process allows us to offer assistance quickly to families in need so they can spend more precious time with their child. We realize that with 1 in 100 babies being born with a heart defect every year, there is a critical need for family assistance… often before the baby is even born.
In order to qualify for support, the family applying: Must have a child with a congenital heart defect or currently pregnant with a CHD baby , and be able to explain how their child’s diagnosis has created financial strain on their family. Must be able to r efer us to their social worker at one of our partner hospitals in Missouri, Kansas, or Illinois.
Be hospitalized for a minimum of two consecutive weeks, anticipate a prolonged hospitalization, or show a need during pregnancy.
