MISS Foundation Scholarship Fund is sponsored by MISS Foundation. The MISS Foundation Scholarship Fund helps traumatically bereaved people in serious financial need receive necessary support services through structured programs and counseling intensives at the Selah Carefarm.

MISS Foundation - Scholarships - Support Bereaved/Grieving Parents & Families MISS Foundation Scholarship Fund The MISS Foundation Scholarship Fund was created to help traumatically bereaved people who are in serious financial need receive necessary support services through our structured programs and counseling intensives at the Selah Carefarm in Cornville Arizona. Most programs are 3-4 days with stays overnight at Andy’s Sanctuary.

The average cost per person is $1200-$1600. Through these much needed scholarships, we are able to provide ongoing, top-level care to those most in need. Here are some of the scholarships that have been created since we started this program in 2022.

Jordan Kammrath Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was created by Dan and Cindy Kammrath in memory of their son Jordan. Jordan’s scholarship will serve multiple traumatically bereaved parents at the Selah Carefarm who desperately need support in their darkest hours.

Number of Therapeutic Hours Supported MISS Foundation-Selah Carefarm Scholarship Fund This significant scholarship funded by an anonymous, compassionate person in memory of his daughter provides $5,000 a month in scholarships for one year. This was given by one of our top supporters to help bereaved families in need receive much-needed grief support. This scholarship has already made such a huge impact.

Number of Therapeutic Hours Supported Drew King Scholarship For Bereaved Siblings This scholarship is a fundraising effort by the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity at the University of Missouri. They have chosen the MISS Foundation/Selah Carefarm as the recipient of their charitable donation to support bereaved siblings. The fraternity hosted a charitable golf tournament in May to raise money for this scholarship.

From the family of Drew King: “Drew was a 21 year old born and raised in a small town in Southeast Missouri. He was a junior at The University of Missouri and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Drew lived his life to the fullest.

He was a tall, blonde-haired handsome athlete who loved to golf, play basketball, bowl, hunt and hang out with his friends and family. At 13, Drew survived a tragic UTV accident driven by a friend that took his only brother Parker’s life at the age of 10. Drew was resilient and used that event to gain compassion and dreamed of being a nurse one day soon.

He welcomed a rainbow baby sister, LenaMae, when he was 15 and was the light of her life. Drew was fearless and full of joy, his distinct laugh will be forever missed. “ Number of Therapeutic Hours Supported Donate to the Drew King Scholarship Fund SGT.

Cade Pendergraft Scholarship “Smart, driven and curious about the world, he had a fearless ability to go the corners of the globe with just a backpack and a smartphone. ” Number of Hours Supported Douglas Madsen Memorial Scholarship This scholarship lovingly provided by Douglas’ family supports bereaved parents who have lost a child to overdose, suicide or domestic violence.

Douglas knew no strangers and his love of people and animals makes this scholarship that much more meaningful for our family. He was a psychology major in college and hopeful to continue on with his studies so that he could become a therapist and be a heart with ears to those in need.

He earned his second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, played ice hockey in high school, loved all kinds of music and was known to introduce many of his friends to different musical groups. Douglas’ sense of humor had us laughing daily and his depth of care for those who crossed his path is still felt today. This feels like such a fitting way to carry on that which was his passion, helping others.

Number of Therapeutic Hours Supported Alder Gabriel Wise Scholarship for Parents of Infant Loss This scholarship is lovingly donated by Alder’s Giving Well in honor of Alder Gabriel Wise – 5/28/2021 – to support bereaved parents who have lost an infant. “We know deeply the loss of so many hopes and dreams that accompany the death of an infant. We found a safe space to fully grieve at the Selah Carefarm in the months after Alder’s death.

Our biggest take-away from our time there was the strength of others. All of the memorial spaces on the property reminded us that other parents have experienced this kind of pain and we felt their strength supporting us even after we left.

Through the generosity of Alder’s Giving Well, a charitable trust created by dear friends, we hope that other bereaved parents can have an opportunity to experience the compassionate support of the humans and animals at the Selah Carefarm and may find peace near Alder’s alders on beautiful Oak Creek.

” Number of Hours Supported Misty Dawn Scholarship Fund This supports a full scholarship for a bereaved parent for a 4-day program at the Selah Carefarm. “This scholarship is in honor and memory of my beloved daughter Misty Dawn. Her beautiful spirit and delightful laugh was something to behold.

I miss her every day. She will be forever loved and never forgotten. Thank you to Dr. Jo and the MISS Foundation for helping me rebuild my life without her physical presence here with me.

For helping me feel everything I needed to feel. For allowing me to fully inhabit traumatic grief and to come to grow with it. My deepest wish for other bereaved parents is that they too can have the opportunity to experience the truly remarkable and compassionate teachings of Dr. Cacciatore and her staff at the Selah Carefarm.

” Number of Therapeutic Hours Supported Scholarship in Memory of Brian O'Daniels From Brian’s mom: “Losing my 32-year-old son, Brian, to suicide in 2016, was, and continues to be the most difficult and heartbreaking event of my life. After reading Dr. Jo’s first book and attending a grief retreat in the early days before the completion of the Selah House, I felt I would be able to navigate this new life without Brian.

Brian loved animals, and when I visit the Carefarm, I feel at peace and close to my son as I sit in Brian’s Circle. Being able to share your tears, as well as your joys, with others who understand the pain of the loss of a child is so important, as well as the love received from the Carefarm animals. “May you find peace and comfort in memories shared.

” Number of Hours Supported Scholarship Fund in Memory of Kimmie Rae This scholarship provides support to a bereaved parent whose child was 12 or under, with an opportunity to stay and participate in the bereaved parent program at the MISS Foundation’s Selah Carefarm. Kimmie Rae was 5 years old when she passed in 1987. That was the hardest 34 years of my life, marked by anger, sadness, and loneliness.

In 2021, I found the MISS Foundation during a dark time. I watched the mental health awareness program “The Me You Cannot See” hosted by Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey, and it saved my life. Five years later, I am so grateful to have known about the MISS Foundation, become a HOPE mentor, and be certified in CBC.
