Stewardship for the Future Changing forms of worship, pressing community needs, and rising costs of ministry have placed significant burdens on faith-based organizations in the United States and across the global Anglican Communion. Many churches are exploring new ways of stewarding their land to address these challenges, but lack the resources and expertise needed to navigate the development process.

Trinity’s Mission Real Estate Development (MRED) initiative fills the gap to help churches plan and develop mission-aligned and income-generating projects on faith-owned properties. We’ve helped congregations gain the capacity to meet broader needs within their communities while creating new revenue streams to support their ministry.

These projects increase access to affordable housing, provide quality education, invest in underserved neighborhoods, and create healthy communities. In the United States, MRED works primarily with parishes and dioceses within the Episcopal Church and aligned faith organizations. Internationally, MRED works with dioceses and provinces within the Anglican Communion in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Investing in Communities, Sustaining Ministries Impact at a Glance 2019-2024 Mission Real Estate Development grants are eligible to faith-based organizations to support real estate feasibility studies and pre-development expenses*, construction for new-income generating projects, and expansion of existing income-generating projects.

*Please note, grant funding in the United States is limited to real estate feasibility and pre-development soft costs. Train Faith Leaders in Real Estate : We equip faith-based organizations with the mindsets, skillsets, and toolsets to become conversant in real estate development concepts. Our Gift of Place conference, workshops, and online courses help faith leaders access key information in peer-mentorship settings.

Access online MRED courses Fund Mission-Aligned Projects : Our grantmaking supports soft costs related to project feasibility. Most grants range from early site feasibility assessments through advanced pre-development support for income-generating projects. Internationally, grant funding is also offered to support construction costs.

Provide Strategic Advisory : Our strategic advisory support provides churches with high-level guidance in visioning, development planning, and transaction structuring for potential real estate development projects. The Gift of Place Conference provides engagement opportunities for faith leaders to learn about how church real estate can provide sustainable financial resources for ministry and community impact.

Alongside guidance from the MRED team, the Gift of Place Conference features presentations from technical consultants, academics, and MRED grantees.

Supporting Early Childhood Education: Amistad Redevelopment Corporation The Amistad Redevelopment Corporation received a $500,000 program-related investment from the MRED initiative to support the renovation and expansion of Pre-K and early childhood education programs on the campus of Resurrected Life Community Church in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

With Trinity’s low-interest loan financing, the historically Black congregation can ensure that 120 new Pre-K seats are available for the Allentown community, where 25% of residents live below the poverty line. Solar Energy Powers Ministry: Anglican Diocese of Central Zimbabwe The Anglican Diocese of Central Zimbabwe received a grant from Trinity’s MRED team to outfit a major ministry hub with a solar farm.

Now operational, the solar farm provides energy for educational, health, and agricultural programming for approximately 20,000 people in Gweru, Zimbabwe. Alongside the farm’s significant climate change mitigation impact, the farm generates income for the Diocese through cost savings in the price of electricity, increased operational capacity, and the ability to sell excess electricity back to the grid.
