Rural Development Fund Board Go to Rural Development Fund Board The Rural Development Fund Board, housed in the Office of Rural Prosperity, has oversight of the Rural Development Fund. The Board is charged with advising the Office on how to distribute tax revenue collected from mines to improve and strengthen local communities. MiSTEM Advisory Council and MiSTEM Network ## MiSTEM Network Advisory Council Grant Under Section 99s(3) and (4), the state school aid fund money is allocating$3. 05 million to fund grants recommended by the MiSTEM Advisory Council for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs in Michigan.
The MiSTEM Advisory Council Grant will coordinates statewide actors, activities and STEMworks programs designed to move forward the State STEM Strategy. For program opportunities funded through this grant please visit our Get Involved page.
## 3P STEM Education Grants MiSTEM is reimagining STEM education using transdisciplinary approaches to create a STEM culture, empower instructors, integrate communities and learning spaces, and ensure high-quality STEM experiences for students. The MiSTEM Network will award up to $800,000 in mini grants (up to $50,000 per grantee) to boost STEM education and career exposure for students.
An important focus of this grant program is planning to implement 3P learning. Learn more about MiSTEM Network 3P (Place-, Project-, and/or Problem-based) Learningin Michigan. These materials were developed under a MiSTEM grant awarded by the Michigan Department of Education and a grant awarded by General Motors Corporate Citizenship.
These mini grants are administered by Michigan State University and Beyond Consulting, LLC. ### Grant Award Information * Awards are up to $50,000 per grantee. * Michigan ISDs, RESAs, LEAs, and MiSTEM Fiscal Agencies are all welcome to apply.
Tribes and tribal community organizations may apply with an identified eligible fiduciary (ISD, RESA, LEA, or MiSTEM Fiscal Agency). MiSTEM Regional Directors cannot be the lead applicant nor the Agency/Organization’s Authorized Representative. * The award period is February 2026 – December 31, 2027.

Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and MiSTEM are partnering to make strategic investments in PreK-12 systems to increase industry awareness and career exposure activities for PreK-8 students. Through the partnership, MEDC is committing to implementing the MiSTEM statewide 3P (place-, project-, problem-based) STEM strategy.
The strategic investment serves as an exemplar model for the efforts to align the State of Michigan's strategic industries and supporting employer engagement, with MiSTEM's statewide strategy, which emphasizes authentic and experiential learning experiences. ### Grant Award Information * Awards are up to $500,000 per grantee. * Award period is July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2027.
* Eligible applicants must be an intermediate school district (ISD), a local education agency (LEA), a public-school academy (PSA), or a 501(c)3 community-based organization serving an ISD(s), LEA(s), or PSA(s). * The grants are funded through support from MEDC. It is anticipated that approximately $2,000,000 will be available in FY2024-25 to fund eligible applications.
* Applicants must be able to partner directly with at least one of the MEDC Talent Action Team core employers (see Appendix A in RFP) and their local MiSTEM region. * Request for Proposal will be released March 18, 2025. * Technical Assistance Webinar is March 27, 2025 at 10:00 a.
