The Accelerate program provides research-based internships that foster applied research collaboration and knowledge transfer between post-secondary students and postdoctoral fellows, industry, and academic researchers.

Accelerate Entrepreneur is a flexible initiative that helps college, undergraduate, graduate students and postdoctoral entrepreneurs grow their startup, develop the research or technology at its core, and get to market faster. Business Strategy Internship The Business Strategy Internship program supports innovation-driven projects, helping organizations enhance their business while providing interns with hands-on experiential learning.

The Globalink Research Award fosters international research collaboration through two-way mobility, strengthening research networks between Canada and eligible countries while equipping interns with valuable global experience and cross-cultural insights. Globalink Research Internship: Faculty Unlock new research opportunities and connect with top international undergraduates through the 12-week Globalink Research Internship.

This program pairs faculty with highly skilled students from eligible institutions abroad, expanding your department’s research scope while supporting Canada’s reputation as a hub for global talent.

RISE-Globalink Research Internship This competitive program enables undergraduate students at Canadian universities to collaborate with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for academic mobility to German universities and institutions.

Professional Development Training Mitacs provides professional skills development that enhances participants’ nontechnical skills, supports program objectives, expands networks, and enriches their work-integrated learning experience.

Globalink Research Internship: Students The Globalink Research Internship program supports international undergraduate students from Mitacs eligible partner countries with a research work-integrated learning experience at a Canadian university.

Mitacs Accelerate Global Excellence Award The Mitacs Accelerate Global Excellence Award offers funding to help cover the salary, research costs, and relocation expenses of an international PhD or Canadian studying abroad who would relocate to do a postdoc in Canada. Apply by September 11, 2026.

This program provided fellows with direct experience within eligible businesses and provided partner organizations with expertise to address their pressing R&D challenges. Mitacs’s support for postdoctoral fellows continues through the Accelerate program with the addition of a higher award value as was previously provided in Elevate.

Canadian Science Policy Fellowship The Canadian Science Policy Fellowship places PhD holders in government offices for 12 months, applying their expertise to support evidence-informed policy while providing hosts with science-based insights and fostering fellows’ professional growth.

Entrepreneurship International Program Entrepreneur International offers a travel grant to Canadian start-ups that are housed in an incubator or accelerator linked to a post-secondary institution, enabling them to connect with host incubators abroad to explore business-development opportunities in international markets.

Globalink Graduate Fellowship The Globalink Graduate Fellowship was offered as a grant to students who had completed their Global Research Internship (GRI) and that had been accepted into an eligible graduate program in Canada.

Accelerate International allows students and postdoctoral fellows to apply their skills, and gain invaluable first-hand experience, through bilateral research collaborations with academic institutions and partner organizations in Canada and abroad.

Accelerate Fellowships give Master’s and PhD students in any discipline the opportunity to apply their skills, access funding and gain invaluable first-hand experience with industry leaders seeking exceptional research talent. Mitacs has fostered thousands of successful collaborations between organizations and researchers.
