Massachusetts Medical Society: MMS Information Technology Award MMS Positions on Health Care Issues Vital Signs - MMS Publication Annual Meeting Educational Programs CME Accreditation for Institutions Committees, Task Forces and Sections Policies, Procedures & Bylaws Corporate Partnership Program Surprise Billing and Patient Notice Telehealth and Virtual Care Career, Legal and Business Services Affiliates and Subsidiaries Specialty Management Services MMS Information Technology Award Committees, Task Forces and Sections Policies, Procedures & Bylaws MMS Information Technology Award Each year the MMS presents an Information Technology in Medicine award program for Medical Students and Residents.
Applications are received in the fall and semi-finalists will present their projects to the Committee on Information Technology in early 2026. The winning applicants in each category are awarded a prize of $5,000 in the spring of 2026. See below for details on eligibility.
View prevailing award subjects from past years The applicant must be a medical student or physician resident or fellow at the time of submission and be enrolled in one of the four Massachusetts medical schools or a Massachusetts hospital or training program.
Each year the Massachusetts Medical Society’s Committee on Information Technology recognizes both a medical student and a member of the hospital house staff or training program for the creation of information technology solutions for medicine.
The two Medical Information Technology Awards are presented annually for functioning projects substantially completed in the past year that use technology to assist physicians in the practice of medicine, the teaching of medicine, or the pursuit of clinical research.
Preference will be given to innovative, non-commercial projects that are early in development; and, this year, additional preference will be awarded to projects focusing on healthcare disparities, barriers to care or diversity. NCI Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences (CURE) Academic Career Excellence (ACE) Award (K32) is a grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) that funds early postdoctoral fellows from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented groups, to pursue research training in cancer-related fields. The K32 award supports fellows within 12 months prior to transitioning into, or within the first two years of, a postdoctoral position. The program, operated through NCI's Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD), aims to enhance the pool of qualified diverse cancer researchers. Beginning with the June 12, 2025 due date, the CURE ACE Award is available in both Independent Clinical Trial Required and Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed versions. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents at time of award.
