Mong Fellowships – Cornell Neurotech Search: Submit Search Search Filters Search This Site Search Cornell The Mong Fellows program supports the next generation of scientists conducting innovative research at the intersection of technology and neuroscience.

It provides funding to postdoctoral researchers (Mong Senior Fellows) and graduate students (Mong Junior Fellows) pursuing high-risk and high-reward projects that aim to develop and apply novel technologies to advance our understanding of the brain. Proposals should represent early-stage research that is not yet eligible for traditional funding sources.

Each application must be jointly submitted by two faculty members from different laboratories at Cornell Ithaca, Cornell Tech, or Weill Cornell . The program provides half-time salary support for each fellow. Participating laboratories are expected to supply the necessary equipment and materials for the project.

Applications must be nominated by a member of the Neurotech Advisory Board (not necessarily part of the project team), who should be contacted before the submission. The Board member will provide guidance on the expectations for the program and the application and present the proposal to the committee for initial consideration. Please submit a one- to two-page description of the project, including 1. Cover page: The names of the lab heads submitting the application and the advisory board member who has agreed to nominate the proposal. 2.

Proposal: A description of the technology under development and the new avenues of neuroscience it is designed to open. What critical neurobiological questions, previously inaccessible, will this technology make it possible to address? Please also outline the specific contributions of each laboratory and the two Mong Fellows to the proposed project.

3. Budget: Indicate whether the proposed support is for graduate students or postdoctoral fellows. Specify the level of support requested for each fellow, including tuition and health care expenses for graduate students.

4. Biosketch: CV of the fellow candidates and laboratory heads. After initial review, a subset of applicants will be selected to present and discuss their ideas (10 to 15 minutes) with the Neurotech Advisory Board before the funding decision.
