Where We Work — MSD for Mothers In 2012, we launched for Mothers Global Grants — a corporate grant program that enables offices around the world to support nongovernmental organizations that are improving maternal health. The Global Grants program is designed to be responsive to local women’s needs and extends our reach and impact to many more countries across the globe.
To date, the Global Grants program has supported projects in more than 40 countries, from Argentina to Vietnam. The program takes a distinctive approach in each region depending on the context. offices have sponsored projects in their own countries as well as in places with great need.
In Asia Pacific, our grantees promote safe birth practices, strengthen midwifery education, improve access to family planning and promote health-seeking behaviors through workplace programs. Africa and the Middle East In Africa and the Middle East, we support an array of programs that improve access to antenatal care and family planning for women and adolescents and strengthen health providers’ skills.
In Europe, we support maternal health organizations that link vulnerable pregnant women to care and raise awareness of safe motherhood practices, both in Europe and in developing countries. Latin America and the Caribbean In Latin America and the Caribbean, we support grantees to strengthen the capacity of health workers and educate communities about reproductive and maternal health.
