MTA Foundation Grants (Over $5,000)

MTA Foundation Grants (Over $5,000) is a grant from the MTA Foundation that funds large-scale programs preparing individuals with technical skills for the future economy, with an emphasis on education and technology. The MTA Foundation serves communities in its service area in Alaska and awards grants over $5,000 to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations for projects advancing community connection, education, and technology access.

Past funded projects include housing upgrades for formerly incarcerated individuals, technology improvements for at-risk youth, and entrepreneurship education. Grant applications are reviewed semi-annually in February and October. Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the Board meeting when their project is reviewed.

Emphasizing the potential of emerging technological minds will bolster technological growth and strengthen relationships between various schools, businesses, organizations and individuals within the communities that MTA serves. The MTA Foundation Mission is to pioneer a more robust and connected community through education and other activities in the MTA service area.

The MTA Foundation Board awards grants over $5,000 to 501c3 non-profit organizations for large-scale projects that further this mission. Applicants can submit their application by clicking the link below. Please download the zip file here for the required templates for the application below.

Hosting a one-week entrepreneurship camp to work in teams to learn the fundamentals of business, culminating in financial presentations to local business leaders. FANUC Milling and Machine Certification Program, which will allow the Matanuska Susitna Borough School District, through Colony High School, to train and certify students in the machinist field.

UAA College of Engineering Hosting four weeklong sessions of the UAA Summer Engineering Academies at Mat-Su College in Palmer to create STEM educational opportunities for students and families in the Valley.
