Multicultural Rural Mental Health Grant - ELEVATE GRANT is sponsored by Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs (with support from Cambia Health Solutions and Utah Division Substance Abuse and Mental Health). This grant aims to support new or early-phase mental and behavioral health programs in rural Utah, with a focus on multicultural communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rural Mental Health Grant | Utah Division Of Multicultural Affairs Multicultural Rural Mental Health Grant The Multicultural Rural Mental Health Grant aims to support those impacted by the mental and behavioral health challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, by encouraging Utah rural residents to seek and receive accessible services to address their needs.

This grant will support the urgent need to address mental and behavioral health challenges that have been intensified and magnified by COVID-19 in Utah’s rural communities.

The Multicultural Advisory Committee of Utah’s COVID-19 Response through the Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs (MCA), an agency within the Utah Department of Cultural and Community Engagement, is proud to offer the Multicultural Rural Mental Health grant program.

The program will support organizations that serve the mental and behavioral health of multicultural communities in rural Utah and who have a commitment to reduce the stigma and inequalities surrounding these topics. We offer special thanks to Cambia Health Solutions and the Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health for their collaboration in making this grant possible.

The Multicultural Rural Mental Health Grant has awarded 17 grants to community-based organizations that serve the mental and behavioral health of multicultural communities in rural Utah. These funds will increase the capacity for these organizations to serve their communities during COVID-19 and address needs regarding mental health.

Eligibilty & REQUIREMENTS Organizations should encompass all of these criteria elements: Is a non-profit, governmental, educational, and/or faith-based religious organization; organizations must have a 501(c)(3) determination letter; government entities or schools must have a tax-exemption certificate. Will serve and fund projects in rural counties; "rural" means a county in the state other than Utah, Salt Lake, Davis, or Weber (U. C.

A. § 35A-8-501). Is eligible if located in Davis, Salt Lake, Utah, and/or Weber Counties because my project for this grant will only provide direct services to rural counties (as defined by U.

C. A. § 35A-8-501): Beaver, Box Elder, Cache, Carbon, Daggett, Duchesne, Emery, Garfield, Grand, Iron, Juab, Kane, Millard, Morgan, Piute, Rich, San Juan, Sanpete, Sevier, Summit, Tooele, Uintah, Wasatch, Washington and/or Wayne.

Is a Utah-based organization. Is providing direct mental and behavioral health services to individuals and families. Is serving historically and systemically marginalized populations—specifically communities of color, LGBTQIA+ populations, and/or those who are linguistically diverse.

Is an organization that has a commitment to centering equity.

An Evaluation Committee will review applications and make the determination of award recipients and amounts based on the following criteria: Mental and Behavioral Health Project Description ( Project Timeline Example ) Experience with Multicultural and Rural Communities Budget Proposal & Description The Committee will generally not make grants to individuals, endowments, debt retirement or operational deficits, constructions or maintenance of buildings, or political campaigns or activities attempting to influence legislation.

This grant is non-renewable and funds cannot be rolled over to the next fiscal year. If funds are not spent by June 2023 or are not serving a rural county, the funding must be spent within an adjusted time period in an approved amended contract or returned to the Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs.

Round 2 Funding: Key Dates Sending Award Notifications For the purposes of this grant, we do prioritize practices that focus on multicultural communities. To achieve equity means that people of all races and socioeconomic status are equally seen, heard, valued, respected, and considered in all decision-making processes.

Equity is the effort to provide different levels of support based on an individual’s or group’s needs in order to achieve fairness in outcomes. For the purposes of this grant, we do prioritize equitable practices that focus on multicultural communities.
