MusiCares Emergency Financial Assistance is sponsored by MusiCares. Provides emergency financial assistance and crisis support to music professionals facing hardship. Programs help with essential needs such as medical expenses, loss of income due to illness or injury, housing costs, and other urgent financial challenges.

Assistance is available year-round and can also include support for mental health resources, addiction recovery, and preventive services.

MusiCares is music's largest provider of financial assistance and preventive services, offering trusted support for mental health, addiction recovery, basic living needs, health care and disaster relief to everyone working in music. Programs are designed to help individuals sustain wellness and connect to resources throughout their careers as they navigate the unique realities of the music industry. MusiCares is not a crisis hotline.

If you're unable to contact us yourself, a trusted friend, family member or industry representative may reach out to MusiCares on your behalf. Confidential Intake and Assessment A MusiCares team member will review your application and supporting documentation, then connect with you to better understand your circumstances, immediate challenges, and eligibility for assistance. Your situation is unique.

Working together, we'll identify the most appropriate resources and develop a customized plan that may include financial assistance, preventive health support, recovery services, financial coaching and/or referrals to other trusted community resources.

Direct Assistance and Alternative Support When financial assistance is approved, third-party payments are issued directly to landlords/mortgage lenders, utility companies, medical and mental health providers, and treatment programs. Our goal is to provide short-term relief, reduce immediate stress, and help individuals take steps toward overall wellness and career stability.

When music professionals experience unforeseen circumstances such as loss of work, illness, or injury, MusiCares may provide financial assistance to assist with basic living expenses such as rent/mortgage, utilities, insurance premiums, funeral expenses and other critical needs.

If a music pro faces mental health or addiction recovery challenges, MusiCares facilitates access to inpatient and outpatient treatment, sober living costs and other specialized care. For many music pros impacted by a disaster, MusiCares offers the first line of support.

Disaster relief efforts provide acute relief for essential needs and address longer-term recovery needs including preventive health, mental health support and equipment replacement. Access to quality preventive care is essential for a thriving music community. MusiCares supports overall wellness on and off the road including physical health, financial health and mental health.

Wellness offerings include vision, dental and physical therapy treatment in addition to women and family health, nutrition, hearing health and smoking cessation. Mental health trainings and 1:1 financial coaching further support overall wellness, and many of these services are offered virtually for added convenience.

Based on our Wellness in Music survey and data-driven needs, MusiCares maintains a robust network of trusted health and wellness providers who understand the music community and provide specialized, compassionate services. We foster strong relationships with relief organizations and community-based programs at local, state and national levels.

MusiCares is here for everyone working in the music industry including musicians, songwriters, engineers, producers, live crew, managers, agents, and more.

Eligibility requirements include proof of: A minimum of five years employment in the music industry* (employment does not have to be full-time or consecutive) OR Credits on at least six commercially released recordings (singles) or videos MusiCares assists music professionals in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

* Reduced to three years for designated disaster relief efforts A note about our staff and providers: MusiCares’ Health and Human Services staff is comprised of licensed experts in social work, mental health, and addiction recovery. Our team provides personalized care through a client-centered and trauma-informed approach.

We also collaborate with a trusted network of external providers including medical, dental and behavioral health practitioners who understand the music community and provide specialized, compassionate services.
