Through this program, the NAA provides funding for **research studies, pilot projects, and community-based initiatives** that advance understanding, treatment, and support for aphasia. Our goal is to help move the field forward by supporting researchers, clinicians, and innovators who are working to improve communication access, care, and quality of life.

CCC-SLP,****2024 Outdrive Aphasia PPA Grant Award Recipient** **Our October 2025 “Ask the Expert” webinar featured the awardees of the 2025 NAA Research Grants:** Dr. Amy Vogel-Eyny, Dr. Mara Steinberg Lowe, and Sophie Arheix-Parras. They shared insights into their funded studies in aphasia rehabilitation, language processing, and stakeholder-centered therapy.

Also known as intervention studies, clinical trials test whether a new type of treatment, compared to a control or “usual” treatment, may be beneficial for people with aphasia. You can filter your search by several areas including: condition, location, treatment, and certain eligibility criteria (click on “More Filters”).

Observational studies, including neuroimaging studies and behavioral studies about language and other parts of cognition Observational studies examine how people with aphasia present and how aphasia can change over time. Observational studies can help lead to the development of new therapies and provide a deeper understanding of what aphasia can “look like.
