9 Citizen Science Seed Funding Program proposal due date reset to January 22, 2026 F. 9 The Citizen Science Seed Funding Program (CSSFP) aims to incubate citizen science projects as they are being conceived or during critical transitions, like the year when they are first launched or beta tested (i.e., when the first group of volunteers is invited to try the project) or when the project changes scientific direction.

CSSFP awards have a duration of up to one year only. NASA expects that funded citizen science efforts will lead to scientific results published in peer-review publications. Projects that include students are welcome, as long as the main goals of the proposed investigation are science results and not educational impacts.

The CSSFP does not solicit efforts whose sole aim is to create tools for citizen science or efforts for which the primary purpose is outreach or education, engineering or software development. ROSES-2025 Amendment 14 resets the proposal due date for this program element, which was previously set to TBD because of the lapse in government funding. The new proposal due date is January 22, 2026.
