NC Space Grant Public Outreach Mini-Grants Program is sponsored by North Carolina Space Grant Consortium. Supports public outreach and informal education efforts from community groups across the state that wish to host STEM events at their respective facility.

North Carolina Space Grant Developing the Next Generation of Explorers NC Space Grant is a NASA-funded grant program that promotes, develops and supports aeronautics and space-related science, engineering and technology education and training in North Carolina.

We partner with NASA, industry, nonprofit organizations and state government agencies to conduct programs designed to equip the current and future aerospace workforce of North Carolina. NC Space Grant strives to inspire and engage North Carolinians to explore the universe and our own planet by capitalizing on NASA’s unique contributions in exploration and discovery.

Higher Education Opportunities NASA is committed to investing in our Nation’s future workforce and fueling an increased interest in STEM disciplines in North Carolina. North Carolina Space Grant collaborates with NASA centers, industry partners, research organizations and other national Space Grant partners to provide hands-on experiential and research experiences to higher education students through meaningful internships.

NC Space Grant and NC Sea Grant Award 2026 Joint Fellowships North Carolina Sea Grant and NC Space Grant have awarded 2026 Sea to Stars Research Fellowships to Robin Newton and Madeline Payne. Newton will investigate how new data from a recent NASA mission can inform wetland protections, and Payne will be working with aerial images to assess overlooked losses of sea grass.

Where Are They Now: Josh Reding UNC Chapel Hill alumnus Josh Reding is addressing the rise of satellite constellations through a unique career at the intersection of astronomy, engineering and public policy: radio spectrum management.

Seas from Space: Observing Life from Orbit When we think of space exploration, we tend to imagine rovers hunting for long-gone seas on Mars or probes scouring for traces of life spewed from beneath the icy shell… The 2026 NC Space Symposium will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Jane S. McKimmon Center on the NC State University campus in Raleigh, NC.
